Not gonna happen. That rumor ran its course. Problem was that the deal was to bring back the New York organization, and use the Hartford organization as a "crutch" to support the high rent costs of Madison Square Garden. But without a serious team of investors, this proposition was shot down and was DOA.

(thats "Dead On Arrival" for those who are achronymnally impared)

You made that up :nut:

What about the attempted bid for bringing back a Montreal team? Was it the same as CT/NY deal?

You didn't hear it from me, but I have heard from reliable sources that Jim Jennings was studying up on his French-Canadian.

He was last seen looking up the word: achronymnally

If I called you what I'm thinkin right now, I'd have my mod badge revoked. Lets just say its another name for a donkey....

But as for Montreal, I've heard everything from "hell yeah" to "bet on it". So, it seems to me that the new investors the NLL found are serious.

From what I understood, the money was almost there, as was the backing of a "partner" suitable to the NLL. They though they were going to make a go of it in the last round of expansion, but then nothing but crickets and tumbleweeds.

I can't believe they were ever even seriously looking at Hartford......I mean come on, how would this have been any different than the smaller markets that had already been tried, and abandoned (Syracuse, Albany, Hamilton)?

Sorry, guys, it's NYC or nothing in that part of the world.

Trust me...the second that the NYC team would have been able to stand on its own, Hartford was going to get the boot.
