there would be many positives

though a long way off, a unified national body would make lacrosse eligible for becoming an olympic sport, although the olympics seem to be not so keen on team sports in the games anymore

i would imagine the federal government would prefer the game to be a unified body and would give the sport more funds

one national body instead of two would reduce operating costs... it would also produce one focus and one drive to develop the game at all levels for both women and men

the only reason i could see why it would not be done is because of the difference between the sports, it is like baseball to softball or basketball to netball, but as most clubs in the country have both women's and men's teams i can't see the argument in it

maybe also the women may feel as if they are losing their identity or control of the women's game if it falls under the general lacrosse umbrella and see the men as a threat, though i am sure everything particular to the women's game would still be overseen by those who know the game best ie women

joining the two bodies won't directly improve the game or increase numbers, but the pooling of knowledge and resources should lead to a better direction for the game in australia, and each section will help push the other along when needed

yeh it would definetely improve joint tournaments like under 15s and would hopefully get more girls too play. In Melbourne one of the girls team is like the purple team or something and its made up of girls from malvern chadstone caulfield and surrey.
