I just went on the Maverik Lacrosse website, and a pop-up came up saying to tune in to their site December 21 for their new shafts. I can't wait to see what type of shafts they put out.

I've known about the shafts for months, I think I actually may have mentioned it in one of my posts. Maverik sponsored the No Limit Lacrosse camp I went to and John Gagliardi came and told us about them and gave out free stuff. I can't wait to see what kind of shafts they go for. Maybe we'll see some heads and other gear from them soon.

No. Why would we illegally post copyrighted images of a magazine on a forum that is run by the same magazine?

A big selling point for IL is that a lot of people on these forums talk about what's in the magazine. People wanna find out and see this stuff, so the only way you can do it is if you subscribe.

that means that they're probably supplying retailers only now (as in, they got enough stores to sell their gear)

If you'd read the original post, you'd know that the shafts are coming out December 21st. They probably just assumed that noone would visit the site until December 21st.

fenwick, ill be there with you. they give out so much shtuf every day ur bound to get something, ive won 2 torques. every day they give out heads(torques, finalizers, evo pros) one kid at the florida last year won some turf shoes=sweet.they alos give out tons of their own apparel(maverik, most of the guys involved in no limit(gags, carc, lindsay) are involved in maverik so it mkaers sense)and if u dont win it they may have a booth where can buy it. also, at florida last year they gave out about 5 "all star" positions and if u got one u got a vaportek with no limit on the front and all star on the back .ill see u there!

Well, the year before I went Great Atlantic sponsored them and they gave out all sorts of sweet gear. My friend won a profile in the fastest shot contest. Unfortunately, Maverik sponsored the one I went to. All we got were lanyards and t-shirts. Some kids got gear bags, hats, or Maverik t-shirts though.

looked to me like the shape of the db803 orangecrusher shaft, probly a c405 shaft

Sorry to bring back a sorta dead thread, but I just had an idea. Is it possible that they won't be offering their own shafts, but other companies shafts that have been re-annodized or painted or treated in some way? I'm just thinking this because the picture on the site with the guy holding the camo shaft is almost definitley an 803, and it has a Gait buttcap.

no its got the maverik cap, but the shape is almost exactly the same as the 803, i doubt its a gait tho

It's also probably at least 2x as strong, seeing how fenwicklax's review puts it. Plus, dB803's dent like butter, and the Wonderboy's are supposed to be like beasts.

It only looks like a deBeer 803 because it has an octagonal shape. You can say the same about a Eurolax Dagger, which had the octogonal shape before deBeer did.

Just a heads up guys-none of you know what metal the shaft is made out of. Hell, I don't even know. Maverik mentioned a bunch of high quality alloys and titanium for extra strength (no, it is not an 803). All of this stuff is purely speculation at this point. Fenwick hasn't used it in many games, and even so, he may not be a guy who dents up his shafts a lot. This shaft could EASILY be just a c405 variant, or some other mainstream metal (CU31, Scandium, C555, etc.) I hate to get your hopes down, but just because a shaft has a cool name, paintjob, and people like the feel of it, it doesn't mean that it will be solid in the most important characteristic of a lacrosse shaft-the metal. Think of it this way-an F22 was just a shade heavier than an F55, had the same grip, had identical shaft thicknesses, and both have a great reputation for durability. Yet one costed 30 bucks more than the other, and the F55 was a far more desired shaft. That is solely because one is made out of C555, and the other c405.

not to argue or question your statement. just thought id back it with my experience so far.

ive used the wonderboy in 11-12 games now. as of now there isnt any signs of denting, bending, or scratching. true, i may not have used for a complete season but as of right now its doing fine. and yes, i am one to break shafts, which was my main question about this shaft. i probably would have gone ti and never would have considered or bought one of these but, well, you know the story........

edit - there is a few small scratches on the graphic part but that is from being thrown around in my bag at the airport. i know one the selling points to this shaft is that the graphics wont come off, but i need to use it more before i can back that up.

But see I don't think any player can honestly talk about durability until they've purposely tried to break it, and then told us about results (if it breaks or not). I don't know what level of lacrosse you play, but situations and conditions are different for everyone.

But yeah because of the different levels of competition (level of play)/strength (size etc)/athleticism (speed affects how much your shaft is hit)/and stick skills (also affect amount your shaft gets hit) the only sure fire way to speak of durability is to try and break the shaft. Which obviously you won't want to do because you risk the chance of breaking your nice shaft.

well i agree with you to a certain degree. i agree with the fact that certain levels of play take different tolls on your equipment. i disagree with the fact that trying to break the shaft determines its durability. in purposely trying to break it, you could be applying forces to the shaft that would never be seen in a game situation. so in perspective, this method would turn out results, just not any that would be helpful, at least to me.

and, needless to say, that ruins a perfectly good shaft just so you can say "it snapped after 20 beats against a fence post. so gout out and buy one. oh and while your at it, buy me another one. the one i had is trashed."

id have to agree w/ fenwick. that sounds like a waste of a shaft and some serious $. if anyone here has the bank to waste that much to "test" the strength of it, post the results and let me know
