View Full Version : Least Obtrusive Mouth Gaurd

During games i think one of the most important things to do is communicate with your team mates. Unfortunately the cheap mouthgaurds i use keep me from communicating aka screaming to teammates across the field. The referees around here are slo very strict about having your mouthgaurd in at all times. I have been in several situations where im trying to shove my mouth gaurd back in after trying to get someones attention. Has anyone used a mouthgaurd that doesn't keep you from speaking well?

i used to have one of those and i hated it. the inner core of it is solid plastic so its not flexible at all. i just bought 2 of the next level down shock doctors for the same price as one of those. but then again its all preference

They are bit uncombfortable, but i kinda got used to it.
But they are the Smallest mouthguard i know of, and easier
to talk with than the other mouthgaurds i've had

I just get mine molded from a dentist and they work better than any mouthguard in stores. They feel like you don't have them on and fit like a glove.

I just use a cheap Adams rubber one. I mold it and cut it a bit so it fits. Besides, when your on the lacrosse field, you don't need to speak clearly. If someone hears "Hearsh yar hel!" They're probably going to figure out that you're saying "here's your help!" And that is one of the more complicated prases used, most people just use simple phrases like help, back left/right, ball, release, etc. My point: it doesn't really matter how well you can speak, go for protection and comfort.

i had the same problem with hockey, and i tried them all and found that i hated the off the shelf ones. nothing would form to my mouth, boiling scalding burning, nothing would work. now i got braces and none of them would work, so i went to my dentist and asked him about a custom guard. i went to a guy who dod them and they are great!!! now, to my parents the most important thing about my sports is me being safe, so they forked the cash right over and paid for it fully. but if your parents will refuse to pay for sumthing youre gonna be stuck as they can cost bout 60- 100 dollars. but bottom line, customs are great.

Cut it some, and it fits well and you can talk fairly easily. Also is very protective.

The black and green shock doctors are amazing...
once molded they stick to your top teeth and you can talk and stuff just fine.

The shock doctor pro fits the best and has the least amount of rubber. it has the lowest amount of protection for a shock doctor because of the lack of rubber. i also used the gel max and it fits well but has a lot of rubber making it hard to talk.

This is like the one i got from my dentist and its easily the best mouthguard ive ever used, easy to breathe, easy to talk with, and its not a pain to keep in. well worth the 50$ or how ever much they charge you.

Agreed. It costs a lot more, but it is amazing. It makes those shock doctors feel like you've got an eraser in your mouth.

I agree with Frankie..... I use a OPro, its strapless, I hardly take it out during a game. Its slim and sticks to your teeth, and it is alot cheaper then a dentists. opro.com
