Would this stuff work just as well as coldgear in the cold or would I be better off with the coldgear instead?

I'd go with ColdGear. Even though it can seem restricting at some times, it does the job of warming you up and keeping you dry from the icy-cold sweat that often gets people sick in the winter months. For specific cold performance, I'd go cold gear, then maybe you could get ACG when the sun comes back out in a couple months--never know-

I don't know much about AllSeasonGear, but ColdGear is incredibly warm in the winter. I only wear it when its below 40 degrees.

Cold gear was made for conditions under 50* while all-season gear was made for changing temps. I guess it depends how cold the weather will be, but since you're from TN it seems like a pretty warm state so all-season gear might be the best shot for you.

cold gear is really good. i wear it for cross country, and for camping and it keeps me warm just fine. i have been out in -20 degree weather with coldgear and a sweatshirt on and i was nice and comfortable. also what is good is the base layer made by spyder. its made for skiiers and it is a little thinner that under armour.

Cold Gear is good when its real cold out, like skiing and crap, but the all season gear usually keeps me warm throughout practice, but when i go outside of the lockerroom w/ it on afterwords..... COLD..... so i would go w/ cold gear for the winter, then all season in the spring, and then i have a heat and turf gear for the summer

I think you would be fine with either. Yes, Cold gear is specifically designed for winter and cold use and its purpose is to keep you warm (as mentioned above) but at the same time alot of the All Season Gear will do nearly, if not the same thing (esp. since your temperatures are not drastically cold). If you really do not care for the tight Cold gear, go with the All Season gear and just be sure that if you notice you are still cold, put a layer of something that you are comfortable with underneath.

Don't get the stuff from wal-mart. I was cheap one day and decided to get the under armor imitation that is sold at Wal-Mart. IT DOESNT WORK. I think I would have been warmer just wearing my own skin.

Lmao, ok I'm gonna get the coldgear then. And what about the UA metal instead of heatgear, anyone used that? Is it basically the same or do you notice any difference?

If it gets below 30 degrees 1 week in the entire year, I would just get the All Season Gear. I know here in Texas it is only cold 1/12 months, so the All Season is the ideal choice.

I'm pretty sure UA metal is part of the all season gear
its basically just like double thick heatgear but keeps me really warm in winter lacrosse(under a sweatshirt)and I use it for hockey sometimes and it doesnt make me too hot
