On the cover of the november great atlantic, hes got some gait Chaoses and it seems he cut the spacers/hinge things out of the fingers..is this legal? Besides flexibility(these gloves are already AMAZING) why would he do that? Wouldnt it take away a lot of protection?

i know in nj that would be illegal. like trying to hit yiur opponent too hard, thats illegal too.
But seriously, you bring up some very good points, and it doesn't make muck sense to me either. it would really hurt to get hit in your now unprotected knuckles...ouch, it hurts to think about it...

haha "trying to hit your opponent too hard"
do you guys have a little hit-o-meter and if you pass the "painful" level its a penalty?

Uhh... Ive seen pentalys given for it before. Like using too much force to hit someone.

1) altering equipment is generally illegal. 3 min NR if you get caught
2) if the ref decides you used too much force, he can flag you for a slash, if he REALLY thinks its excessive he can give you a 3 min, too.

its usually not a matter of force, its more of the control of the stick. if the stick is way out of control and you just completely tee off on someone they will call a slash. if its controled and solid they wont call it.

I would imagine he did it o get more flexiblity in the fingers of the gloves.

Just to give another opinion I hated the Chaos'. I tried them on and the backhand was unbelievably stiff. They felt akward and rough, unlike the nice smooth fitting Insanities. The outside of the Chaos' even looks like it feels: shiny hard plastic.

our refs always check our gloves when they check our stick.
They also call penalties for hitting to hard or "unesasary roughness". ive actually been told by one ref not to run when i hit someone.

I've never seen equipment checks on gloves, but in my league you're not allowed to take more than 3 steps to rush someone for a check.

insanities are SWEET. I have them, but te Chaos's are pretty much the same thing. The fingers are super flexible but the glove is sort of bulky. I dont know why you would cut those out, they help a ton. Plus, they are super flexible even with them. Btw, even if your a beginner don't get the gait icon gloves because they suck more than anything on the planet. There are no joints in any of the fingers and you cant even cradle because you cant bend your hand. They are also not flexible at all.

hmm cutting the spacers diffinitely is illegal but im not sure if'd take away any protection i mean look at the old Brine X factor gels they had like one strip for the spacers and they still protect me fine
