I'm joining lacrosse in spring and I plan to play as defense. Anyways, our school provides us with shoulder pads and a helmet so the only things that I'm going to need to buy are gloves, arm guards, and probably a new shaft.
I plan on getting the Brine Ventilator X for arm guards. Is this a good idea? I'm open to suggestions and reccomendations.... :naughty:
Since I'm a begginer should I just go and buy cheap gloves or should I buy expensive gloves now so I don't have to get them later? I was planning to get the Warrior Superstars II......but they're kinda expensive....so would cheap ones do fine? :imparied:
Lastly I have a cheap aluminum pole and I plan on getting a lighter shaft but I'm not sure which to get........I want a midpriced shaft so its a choice between a STX Axe, Warrior Krptolyte, or the Warrior Cu31. I'm also open to suggestions and reccomendations.
Thanks in advance!!

all of that stuff sounds like overkill to me - even the arm pads. if you've never played before, the aluminum shaft should be fine - maybe go with a brine ignite if you are feeling wealthy. Something like a kryptolyte is pretty weak and can break easily. You can get gloves like the Brine Spartans or Gait Intrepids - they are well priced and good gloves. For arm guards go for something like the STX Stinger - I start varsity defense and that's what I use (if you play defense, you don't need fancy arm guards, no matter how expirienced you are - most people will even think it funny if you do).
So, since you're starting, get cheap stuff, play the game, and if you REALLY think you need really shiny fancy looking stuff later you can get it.

yea
get some STX fusions, they are some amazing beginner gloves
an axe is alright, but a saber is cheaper and in my opinion a great shaft too.
for arm guards, the ventilator-xs are really protective, and if youre playing d you may not need something like that...just find arm pads that fit

yeah, its not a good idea to buy all the expensive stuff right off the bat.
just b/c its expensive doesn't mean it wont break. besides, it good to use crappy stuff and develop skills first, so in a couple of years when you do get good equipment you can appreciate its quality and it will make you a better player.
That's why "beginner" stuff sucks so much. i would know because i used a brine blaze as my first stick, with a pair of trident gloves on an f-15 powergrip aluminum. i used the stick for a year, then i got a razer. and i was a much better player because i used a "bad" head and developed skills with it. unfourtionatley i still have the gloves but im gettin Gladiators to improve that...but its good to start out with crap, thats the moral of the story.
as for reccomendations, i would go with:
Warrior Warpath- Can take a beating and is a good, stiff, wide head. eventually you can upgrade to an X2 or possibly a Revo Pro.
STX Sabre- another solid piece of equipment, lite but also good for beginner purposes.
Brine Trident- Protective, albiet stiff and poor-gripping gloves. perfect beginner glove, will last a few years and will make the transition from poor to good equipment a very smooth one.
Those are my suggestions.

i'd say buy the cheap gear it'll protect you long enough till you develop your skills cheap being $40 and under but i'd say get some nice gloves cuz well nothing matters more then gloves in my opinion atleast when it comes to protective gear i'd say ignitors or something from brine im not a big warrior fan cuz i hate shiny gloves or of warrior for that matter but thats my 2 cents

I saw ignitors at ****'s for 50. So if you can find a deal like that, then get it. Note, bags weren't switched, it just said STX 13" Ignitor gloves 49.99
Shaftwise I would get a warrior platinum defense shaft. Its lighter than a aluminum and I heard they aren't that weak.

Platinums are very good starter sticks. They are actually really strong for 50 dollars or however much i paid (forgot).

Hey thanks for your help! My friend told me it would be better to get expensive stuff now (not to expensive then everyone will be jealous ^_^). I plan on just getting the cheaper stuff now.....he kept talking about what you pay for is what you get, and that getting good stuff now will last me....meh. The only thing I plan on getting thats expensive is the Warrior Platinum since its so much lighter than my aluminum stick. I plan to just go to my local store and try on everything and make my decision on something cheaper......MAYBE I'll spend a little bit more on gloves....>_> Christmas is soon and I justed asked for money, XD.

k man. For Shaft I would say Krypto Pro or KryptoLite if u want light and strong for quick checks. If u want to kill people and launch the ball go with titaniium, Titan Classic
Begginers i recommend a krypto and a head that is WIDE and STIFF

For elbow pads, you can get a apir of football elbow pads for 8 at di.cks they are made by bike. Brine and Stx both make good d ELBOW PADS. the CU31 from warrior is a good shaft too.

*Helmet: CPX / Viking
*Stick: Whatever interests you...Id suggest a medium open face head such as a Brine Motive or STX Proton and then get a decent shaft like a Warrior Kryptolyte C405, they come in a wide range of colors so you can get something that appeals to you.
* Gloves: I would recommend dishing out the most money on a nice pair of gloves, Brine Defts, Warrior Superstars / Superfreaks, or STX Gladiators or Ipros are all very nice
* Armguards: go with the Vent X ...you liek them and they are a nice peice of equipment
* Shoulder pads: Brine Spartan Cores....cheap....light weight...and easy to move it....great pads.

Defenders get hit too... When Attackers are riding they(we) swing just as hard as defenders do. If you wear one of those, your arms will get CRUSHED. Unless you dont plan on touching the ball.
