Why no preseason this year? Is it simply because Hockey is back (that is what my Sting rep told me)? Also, not much in print, radio or certainly TV to hype the 2006 season after coming off a trip to the championship game.
Last year we had two preseason games, promoted heavily and they drew close to 20,000 fans (free). Out here in the desert we need all the publicity and attention we can generate after an average of only 6,500 in attendance in 2005. Only San Jose and Anaheim drew less fans and Anaheim is history.
Anyone else feeling the "we have hockey back" blues?

Not here in AZ, and I've checked the other teams and NLL web sites . . .nada.
Last year our games were on Dec 3rd and 17th. My season ticket rep told me it's because hockey is back. Like I should have known or something . . .

The League and players union could not agree on what players would get paid for preseason games thus there is none. Any scrimmages against another team are closed to the general public. Any same team scrimmage (PORTLAND) held is open to the public for free.

Whats the difference?
Preseason - You can charge admission - Players get compensation
Scrimmages - No charge - Players dont really get compensated

although i like watching the NHL
I am severly pissed off at it right now
the new rules suck (Please stop cursing, Doc) and its ruining lacrosse (as if it hasent happened before)
if there was no NHL there would be longer seasons which would make me happy
There are too many games for the NHL season anyways. Half the games dont really matter too much because playoff positions can be dicided near the last 40 games. Lacrosse should stay at the 16 game mark because it just brings in more intensity to each game.
