That is if he plays.
Dallas has some personal issues that may prevent him from playing this year. But if he plays anywhere, it would be close to home, like Portland. Philly knew this, and sent him away for what they could get, when the gettin was good.
Dallas has two good years left in him, if he plays. He could retire because of this...

i'll be on every board over this.
i will never forget all the memories of dallas eliuk in a wings' uniform. there were so many games when he all but won it by himself. he is unique among the current crop nll goalies as he is all about reflex & reaction and not one who padded up. he was a class guy, the best ever, and i'll miss him.

I really hate to say this, but Philly's loss is Portland's gain in this sense.

I know I'm going to seem like a nag here, but please realize one thing:
Dallas didn't leave Philly because he wanted to. Philly didn't trade Dallas because they wanted to. This is the only way to remedy the situation. Dallas needed to be closer to his family. THERE IS NO GUARENTEE THAT DALLAS IS GOING TO PLAY THIS YEAR. Because of that, Philly couldn't take the chance, being as how Dally is just one year closer to retirement.

I'm a little disappointed that they didn't get anything for him THIS year. Philly got Portland's first round pick next year. How do you think they'll make out with that?

Judging by how Philly drafted this year, and where I expect Portland might finish this year, I'd say pretty good.
Considering Eliuk would end up nowhere else except Portland and may not even play for them, a high draft pick is certainly a better deal than it might have been.
That said, I'm sorry to see Dallas leave Philly on these terms.
