Ive had traditional on my blade for sume time now and all of a sudden ever 10 or so hard shots the ball gets "stuck" in a lip and throws down by my feet(usually hitting some pavement and bouncing up and hitting my house) I ve treid a bunch of things to fix this but it keeps coming up. Nothing is wrong with passing only the occasional hard shot. Ive had this pocket for a couple months and it has only started to happen. Any reasons for this? any solutions? Traditional experiance would be appreciated.

Well I have gone through this numerous times. Your pocket nylons are probably stretching as your pocket breaks in more. This is creating a bag in your pocket. Try doing your shooters gradually. This will keep the top of the pocket tighter. Not letting the ball hit the top. Also you should string your nylon like this to help also.

Thanks but i do my shooters gradually and it still finfs that lip somewhere. I suspect it to be somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd shooters but i dont no. Its really frustrating. Can you adjust the nylons very much?

You can run through the pocket and tighten up the nylons a little bit. Dont pull to hard. You will mess up your pocket like I did.

on your shots that get mad lip.. are they crankers? like the ten minute windup underhand elevator shots? cuz the ball probably finds a tiny lip on the strings and when you shoot, the pocket stretches a tad and the ball stays there
this would not happen on passes because the ball chills in the bottom of your pocket until it packs its bags and goes to another pocket
to fix that.. if thats the problem... tighten up the gut of the top part of the pocket (like someone mentioned above). and use some topstring to have a really tight rolled shooter at the top
edit: oh yeah..get some pics with a ball in it

Try putting a nylon going across the top above the shooter fairly tight, and then adjust your shooters. The top nylon will keep the trad and leathers up.

hey man i see you play for cbhs...i play for saint benedict. but anyway my friend had this problem at camp. i fixed it by just tightening his top shooting string considering it was totally loos. you might not have stung the crosselace tight enough but i think its just your shooting strings. try gradually making them tighter.

You probobly played in the rain or snow or something. Traditional can easily gain lip after just a little bit of time battling "the elements". I would probobly restring the entire if I were you. And get a backup stick with mesh for rainy days. If it wasn't rain, your pocket most likely just needs some tweaking. As you probobly know, traditional and pita and most of those varients require a good amount of matinence(sp).
