Hey everyone,
Just interviewed Wings forward and former collegiate stud Kyle Harrison. Kyle talks about his future plans for the NLL, the MLL, and his collegiate senior season at Hopkins which saw him win the Tewaarton Trophy en route to a National championship. I realize I posted this in the NLL forum as well, I think it does indeed pertain to both, though. Future plans for the MLL, he talks about the New Jersey Pride, and even Hopkins.
So, The official link to the interview is:

Let me know what you think of it.

I agree. I think he's going to revolutionize the sport. Or at least I hope so.

After last year, I was skeptical about Harrison--but when JHU was in trouble, he carried the load. And his shot on the run is quite impressive.

Agreed...That translated into some solid play over his first MLL year...Apparently he's back for more next year. That should be fun to watch.

ok he is good and he is def going to be a great player in the future, but i do not think he will end up being the michael jordan of the sport. their are young players better than him, never the less he is a ery skilled player

Ah well it's still up for grabs. I'd say people are more indivdually talented, but I think his ability to play in both leagues, his imagine, his athletecism, should go a long way in helping this sport to get to where it wants to be.

dude, he was pretty bad in the MLL last year, he's a great guy and was a great college player but hasn't shown much in the MLL

12-16-2005, 05:09 PM
He had 15 points on 9 G and 6 A and 22 GB's in only 9 games. Not to mention he was the main man at Hopkins, whereas on NJ's midfield he was sharing time with Hajj, Doneger, Ghedina, and Graham Gill. So naturally he wouldnt have as many points. He was pretty bad? Not at all.
To syracuselax3: Read the interview! Harrison says he's not playing this year but will give it a go next year.

Yeah...a person can do pretty well for himself with a Writing Seminars degree, especially from Hopkins. I don't know if that's what he's going to do or not, but MLL and even NLL paychecks aren't all that high.
I'd definitely go to one of his writing seminars if I had the chance...
cannonslax624
12-16-2005, 06:23 PM
I'd say I would too...NLL and MLL paychecks coupled with camps and perhaps a position somewhere as a rep are a half decent living..Not a millionaire's job, but it can work. Especially if they are in the elite.

Ive heard that Warrior is paying around $100,000 for some of the guys to endorse their gear. Harrison has potential to make a lot of money down the road. With the amount of money kids are paying for equipment and the boom in the south and west would predicted the first lax millionaire isnt so far away.
cannonslax624
12-16-2005, 07:26 PM
I'd say Gait is already the first lax millionaire, wouldnt you guys? Just because of the purchase of DeBeer and with his NLL/MLL career?

12-16-2005, 07:31 PM
Doesn't/didn't Gait also have some kind of deal with Toyota--I mean, aside from playing for Team Toyota?
Every time I saw him, it seemed like he was driving a Toyota. Not sure...anyone??

You guys really overestimate how much players make.
The first lacrosse millionaire is Kip Fulks of Under Armour. I doubt either Gait has made millions.

Right^^
Which is why I was wondering if Harrison was doing anything with the writing seminars degree he got from JHU. MLL players make...what...15-20 grand, right?
You can do a lot better than that working with writing seminars, but I'm not sure if that's the route Harrison is taking--anybody know?

I think it's more like 4-5 grand. I could be wrong though, that might be the NLL salary.

As an ambassador for our sport, I don't think you can ask for more than a man like Kyle. He is so down to earth. He knows what he means to the game and he respects everything that he has and everything he has been fortunate to be a part of. A team player, unselfish, and a class act.

Uhh...it's his major. You can pretty much find out the major any big college athlete. It's especially important in lacrosse, where it's doubtful that a player would make a living off of the sport.

Haha fair enough, I didn't even look it up. That makes me look kind of dumb, haha, but oh well. It just never came up in the interview.

another good thing about Kyle Harrison is he is wicked marketable. Which means that he'll grab a lot of endorsments and hopefully help spread lax and help to make it into the top sports of the US.

His Dad is a costumer at my mom's bank down in Baltimore. And Kyle came in with his dad once. They said he was a nice guy/

Despite how much I talk about him, no she didn't until one of co-workers her asked if I liked him. And then she realized who he was. C'mon mom! :dummy:

thing is though, there were players better than michael jordan when he played. he was just so exciting to watch because of his style of play, and kyle harrison's the same way

Agreed 100%. If you saw him play at Hopkins or even for the NJ Pride over the summer, every time he got the ball you held your breath. He's that exciting.

As a Penguins fan (unfortunately,) I can easily compare him to Sidney Crosby. Even though the Penguins aren't doing so well, I still love to watch Sidney Crosby play. He has amazing talent but he's playing for a not-so-great team. I think Kyle Harrison was in the same situation with the Pride. They didn't have the greatest year, but I still liked to watch him play, even though I'm not really a Pride-fan. Both of these athletes seem like great role models and each of them could be one of the best in their sport in time.

I remember there being some ridiculous swim move picture on lax.com when he played the Cannons. I think he made Tim Byrnes fall on one, he completely broke his ankles. His swim moves are near the top of the league. Jalbert's gotta be up there though, as much as I don't want to say it. Can't stand complementing a Lizard.

Kyle has friendly deameanor and I can see him going into acting.
Like Tillman Johnson is also trying to break int acting as well.
Lax wise is greatest asset is his leadership no particuliar skill, but his ability to lead.

my definition of "revolutionize" means that something is no longer the same after someone has impaced it.
He's a really great guy...the kind of guy I'd trust with my kid sister, but the idea that he's going to "revolutionize the game" is ridiculously over-the-top. The Gait brothers, Jim Brown, Marachek, Timmy Goldstein, Fred Ope, etc...(there's tons more I'm sure) those guys "revolutionized the game." Kyle's just a great kid and a great player. Sorry.

Maybe the Wings don't need Harrison? After that 13-11 win against Colorado, looks like they're doing alright for themselves without him.
