What are the biggest fashion fouls you've seen in lacrosse?
1)(male)Goalie wearing sweatpants with the name of the college on the butt of the sweats.
2)Backwards hat under a Cascade that is one size too large
3)Spandex pants (I don't care how cold it is, wear 2 pair of knee socks)

1) While playing goal in FIELD lax wearing hockey pants, soccer shin guards, giant arm guards, regular shoulder pads, and a goalie chest protector on top of that.
2) Having colored mesh on your stick that doesn't go with the team's colors. i.e. getting your head strung with neon green mesh for hs which is 2 years away when at the time u play on a team who's colors are maroon, white, and silver
3) Any male player using any piece of pink equipment unless they are exceptionally good.

Kids who wear lax shorts about 5 sizes too big, so they keep falling down to their ankles flashing their boxers all match. Keep your homeboy gangsta **** off the lacrosse field.

one day at school (during spirit week) it was crazy sock day. so i took my old soccer socks that were all diff colors, and put 5 diff colors on each foot, 10 diff colors total. we had a game that day and uh... let's just say my cleats fit a little tighter than usual. but i did score a hat trick that day

At one time, I strung my head with neon pink mesh, breaking both rule two and three. Except for the face that I am god-like at lacrosse.

Tye-dye as an undershirt.
I'll let it slide for the highschoolers, but when you're playing college lax, it's tough to take somebody seriously who wears one.
I also saw a goalie (wearing a fall-ball penny), who manually taped a "Pi" symbol on his back for a number. laaaahoooooooser.
Also, a TEAM fashion foul is when every kid on the team wears different colored socks. If everyone does the same thing--fine--but if one kid wears black, one blue, one white, one red...it's just so tacky.

I dislike it when guys wear sweatpants with the writing on the butts; that only looks good on girls... unless the guy has a nice butt haha jk jk.
when i was little and played box, and it was mandatory to wear knee pads, some teams would wear hockey socks and then tape them to their knee pads. it looked hidious.

In club you would get people that allow it, but there is no way that would fly in NFHS or NCAA.
I know that a guy on the Crease Monkeys uses (or used) a money sign ($) for a number, so it has been done.
It was during a fall ball tourney so it was ok with the refs, and then half way through the game the tape started peeling off. So random strands of black tape would seen all over the field.

I forgot socks to a recruiting tourny once... borrowed my moms pink calf socks and looked kinda sexy... needless to say kids would give me crap about it at the begining of the game and then afterwards wouldn't be talking much crap... also stupid crap like that helps you get noticed a tad by coaches, at least the ones that recruited me had some sort of comment

hahah. I've got to admit, I've thrown on jeans over my compression shorts on occasion just to walk to and from the games. Because somewhere deep inside my vain little head, I believe that no matter the sports bra and sweat-drenched undershirt, no matter the helmet/bandana hair, and no matter the lack of makeup, wearing jeans after a game over my compression shorts makes me look normal.
Of course, as of late (and due to the cold) I just take my pads off after a game put my sweatpants back on/throw on a sweatshirt and just get back to my room as soon as possible to shower.

Our freshman goalie usually wears sheepskin slippers for indoor (turf).

I'm curious - It's not desireable for obvious reasons, but are the rules written to specifically require natural or whole numbers?
Are negative numbers, excluded? Are non-integers excluded? How about a mathematical expression that evaluates to a number?
I currently wear 666 on a jersey for one club. I am considering changing this to either 151 or to some obscure scientific constant next time I play in a club tourney.

This is why I bought a UA skullcap. I used to have long hair and even tied back it would come undone while playing and some would sneak into my eyes. And sweat in the contact lenses blinded me on more than one occasion, plus since I have my helmet fitted to my dome, it's thin enough that's I'm not trying to jam the thing on my head and worry if it moved.

-my teammates over the summer put on eyeblack every game and they all would get someone else to attempt a mickey powell, cept they're all idiots and ended up just making a gigantic black shape on each other's cheeks.
-teams (in normal season) with different helmets. it just drives me crazy. you're playing a team and half has white, half has black, and one kid has a red helmet. it's not that hard to coordinate what color u want ur team to have.
-kids who put all the sticker crap all over their helmets
-helmets with tape on it, some player on another team i played had blue tape rimming the holes on the top. it wasnt just like those stripes u can buy but more like a big grid on the top of his helmet.

It's one of those things that the rules don't address because the people who wrote them don't figure anyone is going to use "number" to mean anything other than a positive integer betweem 00 and 99. Technically, it's not illegal to have a decimal or a negative, but do you want to pay $100 for a custom jersey, only to have your local league or officials rule that you can't wear it?
Here is what he told me.

lol this is a great thread... i cant stand it when kids use so much tape everywhere, like it covers up their colors and it annoys me so much... as for shorts, i refuse to wear anything that comes above the knee, and i run cross country and i have seen some pretty interesting shorts at some races. or kids who wear baseball socks that are the complete opposite colors of the team colors drives me out of my mind. and guys should never wear the butt print pants, thats just wrong. o once i went to my friends lax practice and there was a kid who was wearing corduroys and etnies skate shoes with a dress up buttin down shirt. all he was wearing was a helmet it was hilarious.

12-27-2005, 01:10 PM
At a camp I coached two summers ago, we scrapped one of the talk sessions and replaced it with "How to look cool in your Lax gear". We walked through the appropriate way to wear each peice of clothing and equipment. Then we went camper-by-camper and critiqued/adjusted their uniforms and apparell. What was great was that the kids all really liked it, and asked us to do more stuff like that next year. Highly reccomended for future lax camps.
The most common things that we had to address were:
1) Kids wearing their helmet tilted back instead of tilted forward. Some kids would be lookgin out through the middle of their face mask instead of looking out from under their visor (this always bugs the crap out of me).
2) Glove cuffs pulled tightly together and tied with two feet of laces whipping around on each hand. I'm suprised there weren't any eye injuries with the amount string that was whipping around the field.
3) Denim/Khaki shorts... Damn
It occurs to me that all this stuff is practical as well as fashionable. Players should tilt their helmets down in order to make use of their visor, in addition to looking like a storm trooper. Players shouldhave loose glove cuffs, so as not to inhibit cradling, and should avoid extraneous strings hanging off so as to avoid whipping them around. Players should wear athletic shorts in order to avoid chaffing over the course of a 6 hour long day of summer lax camp.
What also occurs to me is that these mistakes are so common, that maybe kids shouldn't be expected to know beeter without being taught. So, correcting lax fashim mistakes might be a coaching responsibility.

One of my teammates in high school found some New Kids On the Block shoe laces, and replaced all his shooting strings with neon orange, NKOTB shoelaces. It was freakin awesome.
NKOTB might be before most of ya'll's time, but he put the laces in in like 1999-2000, so it was hilarious to all of us, because we remembered "Hanging Tough," and "Step by Step."

I dont know, ever since Dougherty won an MLL championship wearing a single shin guard on a bum leg, I've seen a number goalies anywhere from the post collegiate club circuit to Div I pad up one leg/shin. Colunucci on SU pads up both, I thought that slowed him down but it doesnt make him a lesser goalie.
In fact, Ive notice goalies who wear sweats, or a single shin guard tend to be more aggresive & through there body recklessly at the shot.
Im not a goalie, but it doesnt bother me what they wear. Thats all that traditional attitude. Would you consider a Marine or Ranger going into battle not wearing body armor greater than the other marine/ranger wearing his body armou? The former is usauly dead and not effective.
My only question is, that depending on how padded they are, the shin guard can act as an weighed anchor. But i leave those things to the goalie to decide.
persoanlly I would prefer to play with sawed off facemask like they did in the early days of the NLL-but hey liability is nasty.

Third'd on the UA Skull Cap. I bought one, because otherwise you'll always see me as the kid sticking his hands into his facemask to try to get the hair out of his eyes. The thing helps tremendously.

first off knee high socks are gay unless its cold out.
second this kid on my team wore his fishing waders and camo raincoat over his pads out to practice with a fishing net hanging from his belt. he also had a sandwich stuffed in his face mask so he could much on it every so often... hes a lazy attack man. but our practice feild is notoriously swampy in the middle of the season so the waders were justifiable

a kid on my football team wore a tommy hilfigger polo shirt under his pads to one practice. the worst part, the collar was sticking over the shoulder pads and practice jersey.

haha that was our teams plan for one of our games senior year. individually it's pretty pointless, but together as a team it's something to laugh about. the one thing I hate seeing is people trying to replicate mikey powell's use of eye black. for some reason it doesn't turn out so well on anyone ive seen other than mikey.

in respons to the Wahoos thing
laxpower.com has their name listed as the "Cavaliers" [URL=http://www.laxpower.com/update06/binmen/XUVAXX.PHP]
but if uy search "Wahoos lacrosse" you will find stuff on wahoos soccer etc.
so i think it would be safe to determine that they are the cavaliers because it is the school mascot and it is in really big letters across the front of the jersey. wahoos is probably a nickname. sorry to get off topic.

You did that wrong. 8.92x10^9 is 8920000000. you have to do the 10^9 part first since it comes first in the order of operations. then u can times it by 8.92.

My team was playing one of our lacrosse foes. They recently made a color change from red/carolina/navy to navy/carolina/silver. So to change their helmets colors they pulled off a classic and covered their red helmets with duct tape. I also had to laugh becuase this team comes from the richest part of the city.
Also, we are playing a neighboring school...and 3-4 kids on their team are playing the game with the home jerseys on while we were playing at my school.
Its awkward how people think.

I played a friendly game couple of weeks ago.
There was a player on the opposing team wearing a pink shirt instead of uniform.
Got me thinking that he was a queer or something.
Also on the same match i forgot my shorts so i played in spandex short, wich looked really weird.

P.s. One day one kid at practice wore a Polo over his pads because he didn't have a jersey.

To me, high knee socks look better on shorter people.
Sometimes there are a few kids who wear their uniform ( polo, tie, and khaki pants) out on the field.
Eye black is a fashion don't, especially when it's not sunny.
Few days ago, I wore my snow pants out onto the field because our field was covered in about a foot of snow.
And finally, it may just be me but I hate when people are wearing pads that are like 2 sizes bigger, so they look like a giant padded marshmallow.

MILITARY STYLE COMBAT BOOTS!
playoff game two years ago we are playing on turf and the one kid forgets his cleats, so he had to wear the shoes he wore to school that day
it turned out that those shoes were combat boots, funniest look ever
first imagine a big irish catholic kid 6' 200lbs+, military hair cut.
just think of an irish rambo with short hair
were getting killed so the coach starts putting guys on the field who didnt get any playing time. and with like a minute left coach throws Jordan( irish rambo ) on the field, combat boots and all. the attackman he was guarding was a pretty tiny kid (they were putting their back-ups in as well). everyone stared as Jordan ran onto the field, this guy is the kinda person who you would never wanna meet in a dark alley way and the first person you want watching your back.
jordan is forgiven for the lacrosse fashion don't because he is one of the greatest friends anyone can ask for and would give you the shirt off his back even if it was his last piece of clothing.

i find it just plain stupid looking when people have hair that is really long but they dont control it, so it pops out of random holes in the top of their helmets
and when people have some nice looking helmets, all shiny black with the royal visors (team colors are black, blue, white) and chromed facemask, but its at a 20 degree angle on their head

Knee high socks look stupid, shin high is better
Two different color socks(especially knee high) is [no derogatory remarks]
It looks stupid to wear like a polo or something you wore to school if you forgot another shirt

One time for a game the opposing goalie didnt have a chin gaurd so he wasnt allowed to play. My coach found a cup laying on the ground and they taped it to his helmet. It was hillarious. You would look in goal and he would be there with this cup flopping around.

a kid on our team used to do that in practice and games. he would wear whatever shirt he had on at school that day under his pads. after a while our coach made him take the polo off on game days if he had it because he was afraid of gettin a uniform violation.
