Can I get a ruling, what's a legal pick in HS field? Cuz every time I try throwing a pick in box I get in trouble.
Please explain, is it just like a b-ball pick (plant) or like a football block (running and pushing)?
Thanks.

If they run through it? Depends, if its excessively violent and intentional then it is unnecessary roughness, if not then it is nothing.
For a pick to be legal, keep your arms together, hold your stick so that it does not impede(ie defender holds it parellel to the ground to take up 6 ft), and make sure not to be moving.

Dumb question..... could you guys explain to me what a pick is exactly...? Thanks.

when you intentionally get in an opposing defenders way so someone else on your team can break loose from the D man and hopefully get open enough to score.
btw, its not a dumb question. a dumb question is a rhetorical question, all others are worthwhile.

Haha, thanks. I know what everything is in lax but not the terms for a lot of the moves and things... if that makes sense.

Yea you can't move lol, I made a typo. Also, for it to be illegal there has to be contact while the person is moving, just like basketball. ;)

Also, if the player you're trying to pick sees you and bowls you over, I believe that's a penalty. The way they (the refs) judge it is if you obviously see them, and lower your shoulders or something to prepare to go through them.

Its uncec. roughness for running through a pick you see, otherwise its legal. Another judgement call for the refs. ;)

If you could see him and it was avoidable then it is illegal, otherwsie I've got nothing.

The key words are "stationary and motionless." A lot of guys will set, then see the opponent is going to miss him and lean in to create the contact; that's a moving screen.
Some coaches are a bit confused on this, though: even if the guy setting the screen leans in or shuffles, it's only illegal if there's contact made.
