The newest fad at our school is dungeons and dragons and similar games. I know several people who have gotten draged in and one kid at our school attempted suicide because he lost his collection of characters. It is so depressing, and yet strangely humorous. Do any of you know anyone who has become addicted?

they think it is cool. They are condescending on anyone who isnt into it, and try to suck you into it. They are like the door to door "join our church" people.

Ironic how people that into church spend their free time playing with demons. Excuse me, Level 37 Horde Demons with Ebony Battle Swords.

I saw these Dungeon+Dragon figures at a Comic Book shop a few years ago, and I remember nerds were huddled around a table talking about their new figures and how much they were worth. Plus, I looked at the expansion packs you could buy, and they were like $10 for 4 figures and they had starter packs, etc. I couldn't believe these people were so into making strategies to this game and how ridiculous I thought it was, plus so expensive.
Yeah, around here, if you are like them and you play this game, you really aren't talked to besides your fellow Dungeon+Dragon friends. It isn't really smart to talk about this stuff openly at Anderson if you know what I mean.

I laughed at that and its true but. I would think mor like cutting them off and eating them is more on D&D's level

No one at my school plays D&D. We just play WoW \m/ \m/.

Yeah, i tried it once, didn't think anything would happen, thought i could quit whenever i wanted to, but boy was i wro- oh wrong topic.
Seriously, i played it once. Wasn't that great or anything. It'd be MUCH more popular if it wasn't such a taboo in our society. The only people who play it can legally be considered socially retarded. One guy in my health class admits to playing it, and he is the the most ugly human being ever. Seriously, he burps in class and is paler than my hips.
D and D as it is called by it's worshippers can and will cause loss of muscle, paleness, frailness, social retardation and/or the loss of friends (if you had any to begin with).
Remember kids, just say NO!!!!!!!!

Remember kids Dungeon and Dragons is the next thing to being mentally retarded, JUST SAY NO!
Side effects of Dungeon and Dragons are:
Ugliness, stupidity, socially retarded, brain shrinkage, loss of money, coolness factor in negatives, paleness, wang shrinkage, loss of genitals, virgin for life, Fatness, bad diet, bad smell, taking showers every other year, thinking girls have cooties.
^^^^ feel free to add to the list.
More to the list right here.
weakness, loss of money, loss of common sense, lost touch with reality, looking like a monkey's rear end, never getting to puberty despite how old you get, and never talking to a girl

I experimented as a 9 or 10 year old.
My group had a dungeon master who ran the games like a dictator, contantly cheating to make sure none of the players could complete the quests.
My association with this group, and with D&D, ended up with me identifying with my "Fighter" character ( Said dungeon master was punched out ).
Truly glad I got out when I did. Those that were still playing in HS were among the untouchables.

Clearly another thread where I'm in the minority. I played up through college, never sunk any money into it and had a decent time with it because I did it with laid back friends who didn't memorize the books. I had fun, I was able to flex my imagintation without being tied to a television or videogames, I see it as no different as the amount of time some will devote to say WoW or Halo etc. I wasn't addicted, but it was nice to be able to get together with the guys, order a pizza and a beer and maybe get to kill a troll.
D&D factoid: Vin Deisel still plays D&D to this day, he recently wrote the introduction to the 30th anniversary book on the game.

you can be mean to D&D nerds because they will not amount to anything.
its weird but at our school socially acceptable people do well in school (with a few exeptions nonetheless), and the nerds are the dumbest people i have ever met. anyone elses school like that?

i know exactly what you mean! I saw this dude, had to be around 40... long beard, hair in a pony tail... he was getting his game all hardcore on with a group of teenagers at barnes and nobels...
But yeah, openly admitting you play D & D at my school is a no no. There are some kids that do play it at lunch... i've seen them get hit with milk cartons... mashed potatoes, and a chili potatoe. My school is definetly not a d &d user friendly place.

There are a group of people at my school that play a game called Runescape. (kinda like what Dungeons and Drangon sounds like) They think they're so cool and they've sucked other kids into playing:ahhno:. Its so funny because they sit around and at class and say like, "I'm a lvl 78 warrior with full rune armour."

I played that after my yu gi oh phase. It was much more fun, cheaper, and you could win without having all of the best cards. It actually involved strategy and made you think. But it was strange, yes, very strange...
Thankfully, I quit once I realized that I was getting addicted and that I would never get a girl if I continued.

I played back in middle school with some of my friends. Only now do I realize how big of a nerd I really was. The main reason I played was because my CCD teacher, who I didn't like, said it was evil. This is also the person who said that Harry Potter was second to satan. Ya, I used to play Runescape, Yu Gi Oh, D&D, Pokemon, and a bunch of other nerdy stuff like that. Then...
I found Lacrosse.
I use to play magic and pokemon, pokemon was kinda gay even at the time but magic was really cool to me. I went to tourny's and stuff with my friends, lots of fun. I wouldn't go to the D&D level though...to lame for me.
