I got her a silver bracelet, the links are in the shape of starfish and shells (she loves the beach). Haha, it was awesome when I went to buy it, because it was $60, and then the lady at the register said she was giving me 65% off because of a bunch of random holiday sales. It ended up costing like 22 bucks, and she's going to love it.

Then I base it by how long the relationship has been going on. The longer the relationship, the more expensive/extravagent the gift. Like, I wouldn't even get anyone say, an iPod before 9mo. to a year.
But to me, jewelry is such a .. bland idea. Unless you find something that expresses the reciever's personality, it kinda says, "Hi, I didn't know what to get you because I suck at life and I'm not really in tune with who you are, so I got you something shiny. Girls like shiny things, right?" And she'll probably like it, but it just won't have as much impact.
