do any of ur guys' winter leagues have weird rules?

like i'm playing in one called Triple Edge and we have to do 1 pass before shooting and we have limited body contact. which means you cant just go and lay somebody the F out.

it's dissapointing and annoying personally.

We have no body contact, 2 attack, 3 mids, 2 defense. We play on a 70 yard long field which is surrounded by a net. and the ball is in play until it hits the net. And depending on the ref, we either do man up and man down or free goalie clears or free fast breaks.

In my league we play 2-2-2, there's no boarding or any body contact for that matter, and there's no faceoff after a goal.

Our winter league is pretty cool. It's basically the same as the normal game, except the goals are 10 yards closer, and if a team is down by 5 goals or mroe, then they automatically get the ball at midfield (no face off) after a goal.

I know most of you guys are in HS; I play in an over 30 league on the Island were the rules can (and often do) change from game to game (and sometimes half to half). We play 2-2-2 (2 long poles on D) with a goalie. No face offs after a goal.

As an example, the first game of the season each team could call one time out per half at anytime. Game two, no timeouts if you are within one minute of the half. Game three you can call a time out within the final minute if your team is trailing.

Same thing with contact. Some games guys are getting smacked with no calls, next game a tap gets you a minute.

My son plays in a HS league and it is the same thing with his teams.

It all depends on who is calling the game, same as field.

our league has all these rules like..:

-no body checking!!?
-no one-handed checks
-no off sides
-once a goal is scored no faceoff (just the goalie clears it)
-no long poles

i think thats it

I can understand the not levelling your opponent to some extent.
Besides...those people that run the indoor leagues are taking a risk. If someone gets leveled on their field, and the kid gets hurt, he can sue the owner of the field. The owners want to minimalize the chance of serious injurys (more serious injury=$$$$).

Think of it as exhibition games (which is really what it is).
You don't want to get all messed up before the actual season starts.
It is just winter ball not anything that counts. I am not saying not to play hard...but at the same time understand where the rules are coming from.

thats why you sign waivers in the beginning so if some1 get hurts they cant sue because they new they were taking the risk.

one indoor league i play at is:
5 vs 5 (not counting goalies)
all shorties
no body contact or boarding

the other one i play in is
6 vs 6(again not counting goalies)
2 attack 2 mid 2 Def(2 long poles)
and im not sure about contact right now because its a huge field with no boards so i dunno

Yeah, and you should see how well them waivers stand up when a smart lawyer attacks them in civil court!

If the league didn't have a complete and substantial insurance policy in place, I wouldn't allow full-contact at a facility I owned.

Mine is on a roller hockey rink which is tiled (sp?). We play 2-3-2 and a goalie. No face offs. No boarding or body checking (but were allowed to bump a little). Its just to tune up our skills. We dont need to get seriously injured playing indoor league.

Do you really think that a waiver will hold up in court?

we have limited checking, a clearing rule were attack has to be behind the restraining line and middies behind the half, a rule were after a goal the goalie just begins play, 1 timeout, 7 on 7 (with goalie), and 1 timeout. So ours is kind of weird too

The one I play at is more chill than some described on here, but ABSOLUTLY NO BOARDING. Other than that, full contact, no fruity 2-passes before you score rules. Also, after a goal, goalie starts play by picking up the ball.

Utica area. Maybe you've played New Hartford? Or Whitesboro?

The league is terrible. It's more hockey than it is Lacrosse.

we play full field indoor and since its limited contact we're only supposed to play the ball. i got called for boxing a guy out on a groundball. the refs are generally pretty fair but i guess we just got some pricks yesterday.
