My gym teacher told me that today. It was kinda random considering we were playing Handball and I was just sitting at goal (I had a shutout thank you very much). I didnt know he left the team though. That sucks for them.

I don't believe he left the team, per se, but he's definitely on leave for a while.

jeeze he was having one of the best years of his life and then this happens thats horrible that just shows that some things just mean more than other things you could have everything going right then something like this happens. i feel really bad for Tony i hope no "foul play" was involved in his sons death.

Yeah i just saw this today on PTI, the cause of death is still unknown. But I think we could see some of the best football the colts have ever played in the upcoming weeks. When you play for somebody, that always happens (look at Brett Favre).

Does anybody know who is going to step in for him?

The assistant coach, Jim Caldwell

they said on SC that no foul play was involved, so the next logcial progession is Drugs or alcohol. He was healty and athletic so i think that rules out regualr health factors, like caridac arrest.

Its sad to hear that this all happened to Dungy, I've always liked him, he really seems to know the game and has succes. Hopefully this doesn't spoil the Colts superbowl run, but I still wanna see the bears going all the way

ESPN.com said the police didn't see any foul play, so I'm thinking that the PD is leaning towards suicide. Man it must be tough to lose someone this time of year.

Yea on SC they said it was apparently suicide, the girlfriend found James Dungy after she left him for a few minutes to go for a walk(at 1:00am) she came in, saw him not breathing and called the black and white. they did CPR becaseu he wasnt breathing and then he was prononced dead at the hospital, they will know exactly what happedned after the autopsy. Thats whaat i hear.

Anyone else think it strange that the girlfriend leaves at 1:00am to go for a walk for just a few minutes and comes back and he boyfriend is dead?

Suicide is the most likely cause of death at this point and an autopsy is being run today.

I think if she was involved that it was a poising case.

The title of the thread is just not informative for those who hadn't heard of the death. They may assume he quite or was fired I just thought it should have been called something wlse more appropriate.

James Dungy lived in Tampa, he was attending a community college there.
