Everytime I try to play a game I get the disk read error. It happened to me once before and I sent it in for repair when it was still under warranty. Is there a way to fix it myself? I will try anything because I'm going to get another xbox 360 and a playstation 3 when it comes out.

ive taken mine apart and cleaned the lens, it worked for a lil bit, then the whole playstation 2 basically fell apart, search google for it and ull be able to find instructions

I'm having that problem right now. It only says that when I try to play Blast Lacrosse though. Yeah, I said it, I actually WANTED to play Blast. Maybe its a sign?

On the XBOX, when that happens (which is I am assuming the disk cannot be read by the PS2) there is a big plug behind the XBOX that I just pull out for a few minutes and then plug back in. Works for XBOX maybe it will work for your PS2.

my friend had one that made this clicky noise whenever we played it...he hit it with a pool stick, it kinda actually fixed it for a little bit then it died

I think sony recalled alot of ps2's because of that problem. Here's a link about it I got out of the newest game informer mag. http://www.ps2settlement.com/

how old was your ps2? i realize you fixed it now, but i'm wondering if they just start to break down after 3 years of use or so. mine plays fine, but instead of the game sounds just makes a loud buzzing noise. kind of sucks cuz we can't watch dvds.
