Anyone notice Chicago picked him up? Supposedly he played for Team Japan in the World Championships a couple years back.

Yes, he was number 182 in the draft and is a defenseman. I actually am impressed to see a Japanese player in the MLL. I had always thought thought that the Japanese would be naturals in lacrosse and look forward to seeing what he can do, although I will be rooting for the Bayhawks as usual.

This is the second time a Japanese player has been drafted. An attackman was drafted in the 2003 Supp. Draft. I THINK it might have been the Hawks'. He did make it.

Yeah i remember this happening to and i'm pretty sure it was to Baltimore.
The guy you are referring to was Shinya Maruyama ... he was a graduate of Nippon college in Japan (I think in '97)... He was drafted by Baltimore but ended up getting cut from the team.

This is pretty cool to hear, it'll be intresting to see how he does. U of Michigan has a brother team over in Tokyo, and they come in once a year, its pretty cool to see in person how much this sport is growing. And I also had to do a project on Japan last year, ended up doing it on Japanese Lacrosse.
