Does anybody happen to know how much rent Barrage's paying in Villanova ?
And do they get to keep all the money from tickets, beer sales and parking ?

I can check, but I believe they don't get to keep all concession sales. The Barrage did almost break even with the attendance, and money raised. They're looking into other options for future years to make some more cash. This year they're going to experiment with other venues, moving the home opener to Franklin Field. They're attempting to attract some of the people from the NCAA championships to drive the few miles north to Penn's Campus. Last year, Philly's largest attended game was the home opener, which was held the first day of the NCAA champs.

Just curious, why do you ask? Are you looking to rent the field? If you want contact information that could get you the direct answers, PM me. I'd rather not post that information out in the open where it can be abused.

FYI - I've spoken to the AD at Villanova, and unless you are part of the MLL, or other professional league that has an arrangement with them, you can't rent the field for athletic use (clubs, etc.) They won't assume the liability following some sort of incident that happened there recently.

Not entirely true OldGoalie. My senior year my team was on the end of our Spring Break wrapping it up against Neumann College. However when we got to PA it was in a downpour (which we went running in because we needed to move around after being on a bus from our NC games) and it looked like the field would be too waterlogged to play on. The AD @ Neumann called the AD at Villanova and asked for permission to use the field if we wanted to play later than scheduled (and that Neumann would kick in a few extra bucks because our bus driver was overdue), so it saved us a rescheduling and we got to win @ Villanova.

Apologies - you are correct. I should have added "other varsity college lacrosse games" as well. Basically, VU's insurance company won't let anyone else besides pros and college teams use the field due to some accidents that occurred in club games.

I'm pretty sure that the Barrage wouldn't keep any concession or parking revenue, just the ticket revenue. And I'm guessing the rent per game can go anywhere from $2000-$10000 a game.

I wonder about these things, too. I have tried to conjure up a "business model" and items like facilities rent is indeed important. Plus, I am just a bit curious to see what folks pay to play their games.

With full staff, security, etc. necessary for each game, it's probably more than that.

how much is a college goin to charge for the stadium when there is no demand for it. no barrage, who else is going to pay to use it. i can't see it being above $10k, maybe $5k max.
besides, its probably the barrage own staff doing all the amenities other grounds & maintenance.

There is some demand. The women's pro soccer team (Kixx?) rents it out, or at least they used to. But I know when I also checked in to renting Franklin Field at Penn, it was at least $2500-3000 for 2-3 hours, and that was with a skeleton union crew for cleanup and security, not a full staff, concessions, etc. Now that may have been due to the fact that downtown Philly is mostly union employees which commands higher rates, but I imagine it's not that far off when other colleges want $275-$500/hr just to use their turf, without staff, etc.

And it's unlikely the Barrage keep their own staff at the stadium, unless they hire temp hourly workers. I would be more inclined to believe it's VU staff.

Unless you have one of the freaky cool "Barrage" polos, you are exactly that...a rent-a-staff.
