England, they arent great, but the competition is worse.
Countries like germany are improving, but England will still be tops.

Don't forget Norway! To answer Tomahawks11's question, they hold them every four years, two years after the World Championships. They were three out of every four years for a while, but that was too expensive (there is little sponsorship, especially in the newer lax countries, and most players had to pay for everything). Except for 2001, when Germany won, it is usually England. England won a very close won in 2002 in Prague over Germany and I think Germany will win it in 2008. OK, I may be biased. The General Manager and some players are from my old team (2002 and 2005 German Champions SC Frankfurt 1880). Sweden and the Czech Republic are good (my picks for 3 and 4), but they don't have nearly as many players to choose from as England and Germany. But....two years is really a long time in European lacrosse, which seems to get bigger and bigger all the time, and things could change by then.

they should have the euro championships every two years, maybe on odd-numbered years so as not to clash with the world cup... as all the countries are so relatively close, this would be possible, and it gives national teams more opportunities to gel together and play competitively

It was every couple of years. But the costs involved meant that some countries struggled to make the tournie.

I think England will win it all.
Also im curious are all the team at Euro packed with imports like they will be for the world champs?

England should win it easily
Even when fielding a second string team they won it - in Wales in either 2000 or 2001.
Maybe if Germany & other teams include their US players they could give them a game.

Agree about Japan.
After they beat England in their final game in Perth it will be interesting to see what happens when they meet again.

what about the home team (finland)? we should look at how the players are in the world championships coming up. this would give a good indication for who would win it. I think england will beat germany but its kinda hard to say cos lax in europe isnt that good

Lacrosse is growing fast in some countries, like Finland for example. So it will be hard to say who will be on top after a few years, but I think that England and Germany will still be the teams to beat in 2008. Ofcourse all of the countries have different policies on using non-resident and non-passport players which can affect the results alot too...

England will win. But what about Scotland?
They have James Mitchell (ex-Princeton) at face-off, and Matt Russell (ex-Navy) in goal for the Worlds - their squad is improving, I'd back them to push Germany and the others.

Those guys may be playing at the worlds for scotland but if they will go and play in the euro's is a totaly different issue.

James Mitchell lives and plays club lacrosse in London, he plays for Scotland in domestic tournaments such as the British Championships. As for Russell, who knows?
On a related note - the US based England players, such as Pete LeSeur, made it over to England for a training weekend a couple of weeks ago. It would seem they have a reasonably good commitment to the side which bodes well for Canada.
