being taiwanese, i am inclined to say no, because lacrosse is probably considered a crime against the government. no, but seriously i doubt it. lacrosse is unheard of over in china (minus hong kong). there isn't really even a term for it.

well, if there is, Shanghi is probally the only place your gona find it, you need to look for free eneterprise zones, because thats the only place you would find a store like that. But hong hong is probally the closest, do they have a team in the world games btw?

yeah hk has a team
My grandparents said that some sports stores may have it but I don't know. My grandparents have never even heard of it until they came here this summer. They were like Is that a new kind of toy? (in chinese of course). My insanities were made in china so I was kind of hoping there would be a store there that would sell stuff for cheap.

Hmm.. If you can find the facories were the stuff is made you might be able to go there and buy stuff direct from them for cheap.
Well my grandparents think we can find it. They looked lacrosse up in a 20 year old dictionary and there was a translation for it in chinese. Also, Beijing has some lax tournament for men and my grandpa said that if Beijing has lax, than Shanghai probably does too.

Your best bet might be to email the Hong Kong Lacrosse Association
http://www.hklax.org/
They also have their own forum believe it or not

With that attitude towards lower socio-ecconmic countries, it would be ironically funny if you got owned by a Triad instead of buying one. :naughty:

I dont think that you will find one. Lacrosse is a rapidly growing sport, but i dont think it grew that fast that china has stores.

Lower socio-economic country! China got like a hundreads of thousands of millionaires, granted this kinda a small percentage to a counple billion people, but there are alot rich people there. Considering your Austrailian Im sure you've seen all those mega tour-buses full of "factoryowner" or "children of the komisars" coming to Sydney or the goldcoast- I dont think they're coming to Austrailia to work in a restaurant or dry cleaner.
Besides if they built a triad helmet in the states you & I would would be paying like
$300 for a brine triade- Thank God for those slave workers cuz we would be paying a lot moret han you think.

Ok. How am being racist. All I did was site the fact that there are over a billion people in China. I didnt bad mouth them, there are plenty of wealthy Chinese in mainland China, but the wealthy in proportion to the entire population is still a small but powerful minority.
Read all the dam labels on some of your lax gear, hey Im not against cheep prices. But in order to make lax "cheep" Brine, Warrior, STX, or all of them have to manufacture this stuff wher cost of production is dirt cheep and dam well a Chinese laborer or a prison worker is probably sewing your gloves or bolting the pieces of your helmet together and you should thank God that proll in China is not being paid minimum wage because you wouldnt afford to play lax.
Because if this stuff were made in the US or Canada, the only guys playing lax are the ones who can afford to dable in Polo or yachting.
All you blue collar types would be reduced to playing basketball or soccer, you dont need a stick, padding, helmets, or gloves.
Thank God for cheep labor.

not saying what radman said is ok to say, but he is right when it comes to manufacturing products in china, it is extremely cheap. why do you think walmart has moved all there jobs there? answer-because its cheaper
but i don't think you'd find a lax store there but it would be cool

Ok, a couple of facts. Lacrosse equipment IS being manufactored in China, Lacrosse IS being played in China (on the mainland & not only in HK). US teams have been going to China to promote the game & I have heard there are a few University teams in Shanghi.
How many players does China have I would like to know?
How many players does Korea, Indonesia & New Zealand have?
And what about Argentina, Italy, Sweden and the Nederlands?
All these are "minor" growing lacrosse countries.

Lol buddy there is no more "free enterprise zone", I'm thinking you meant special economic zone. All of China is a quasi free enterprise. The most developed region of Shanghai is called Pudong, sorta like silicon valley/wall street/ fifth avenue mix.

I never heard of any lacrosse teams in China beyond the team from the University in Hong Kong, and I am a Chinese Lacrosse player, except I grew up in America. I was born in China and moved to the US when I was 7.

I thought of that but my relatvies in China shot that down since almost all companies that have contractors manufacturing for them in China have to sign agreements that state that all the merchandise must go directly to them. So my relatives told me that you wont ever find it in China since all of it is shipped directly to the States.

ROBI GO FOURTH AND SPREAD THOU LAX IN THOU MOTHERLAND!!! SOON WE SHALL DESTORY THE JAPANESE LAX TEAM! lol......I dont think China should have a lax team cuz Japan's pretty darn good and we'll undoubtably loose to them for a long time and you know how damned pissed they will be.

Well I just stood corrected, the Hong Kong University lax team is trying to goto the world games and their askin for players, I sent them an email because im definitely eligible.
ROBI SEND THEM AN EMAIL NOW!!!! Lol.....maybe even Asian_Invasion can get in. Albeit hes from Taiwan but its still possible they sent a combined Korean team to like the asian games or something so im sure they can send a combined "Chinese" team. Im sure theres hundreds or dozens of Chinese laxers in America, although most of them will probably be from Taiwan origin.
How did my thread get turned into this racist war?

Fyi Canadian lacrosse equipment isn't subsidized and usually costs more then in american stores.
And I know that lots of the smaller countries accept north american players onto their rosters to fill spots. A buddy of mine is playing in the world games for the fins I believe. It definitly is a great opertunity if you can take advantage of it

yeah just for everyone's information - there IS lacrosse in china, notably in Beijing - we've been playing for over a year and are holding a international tournament with american, japanese, korean and hong kong teams in July.
Nutters who come out with crap like ''lacrosse is probably banned in china'' - get a grip yeah?! you obviously have no idea what you are on about.
you can check us out on youtube - china lacrosse BLDC (beijing lacrosse development centre )
Beijing sports university do have lacrosse team, BLDC is independant of BSU - we have both mens and womens teams and then there is the expat team. There is a manufacturer here too but of course as its a new sport it isnt too well known. but thats all changing. for more information just ask!
