first, which heavy bag is best? 70 lbs, or 100 lbs? also, what type of gloves should i use for the heavy bag? probably a stupid question. how do u figure out the sizes?

get a membership to your nearest boxing gym, all you have to buy is hand wraps. You will learn 10x as fast probably faster by going to a gym. To answer your question 100 lbs is probably better and IMO use regular 16 ounce(the biggest i think) sparring gloves for the bag. Theyll protect your hands and youll get used to punching with heavy gloves on. but you still need to wrap your hands!!!

I think it's for more protection and support so you don't break your fingers or hand. I could be wrong though.

if you dont...your hands will start bleeding. The bag is rough and punching it bare hand cuts the crap out of it. Also wrist support so.
