So, do stick tricks improve your stick skills. I fool around with them alot and I want to know if they will improve my game. Also, how do you do an Indian Pickup? And when you do it, does the ball pop up in the air?

i think this is supposed to be in general mens field

i do stick stricks, i think some where you toss the ball around can improve your coordination, but ones where you spin probably promote bad habits
to do an indian pickup you put your head paralell to the ball, and push it twards the ball so that it starts to roll, then roll your head over the ball so that the ball rolls into the sidewall of the head

indian pickups are hard to explain, but wheelax has a clip of him doing one that's pretty good. pm him for the clip.

ya, i think tricks help....with just in general handling, plus its a lot safer to do tricks inside then play wall ball or pass & catch

At Ryan Boyle's Trilogy camp, we spent a good 10 minutes working on stick tricks to help get us more generally comfortable with our sticks.

I sorta see how you do it, but do hit down on it and do youturn your wrist to the inside or outside?

WHEELAX2

turn wrist to outside.. there is a way to watch it in slow mo... just right click on the video and watch away.. right click then choose "forward" you have to repeat the process

I think they do... as long as you have the stick in your hand you are improving your game!!!!!

stick tricks will generally help your hand-eye corrdination, and will really help you feel more comfortable with your stick. if you can control your stick for difficult stick tricks, just think how much control you will have doing run-of-the-mill stick maneuvers.

IS it supposed to feel really awkwark, cause it does when I try doing it?

it will until you get it down right.. it's just like picking up a ground ball for the first time, or throwing your first pass, etc.. it all feels weird until you master it

i wouldnt try an indian pickup in a game unless you want your coach to yell at you...

... well your practicing something different than what wheelax2 did... he could skip the first step of hitting the ball then rotating because he picked up a ball that was already in motion.. your doing indian grab with a still ball... way different.. if its in motion all you have to do is angle your stick and wait basically... btw what happened in that play after the video stopped?

after the video stopped, I think I took the guy to the cage and hit a btb shot.. then ran off the field and caught my breath for 3 minutes

indian pickups are hard untill you get the hang of then and they feel really weird at first. im a girl i have them down with a girls stick and i can do them with my right hand and my left.

they take a long time to master... i can say that ive basically mastered them right and left handed. i use them in games all the time because when i face off its alot easier and faster to just whip your stick out there and snag it. i dont suggest doing it in a game until you get really good at because if you do it and screw up youll be riding pine for the rest of the game.

o the last quote didn't make it in, but ya, indian pickup is not somthing u really wanna do in a game unless your doing it off of like a restart or somthing.

but ya i think stick tricks help. i make up my own little ones,

for instance i play d, and it's kinda hard to get a good ground ball on the run w/ someone right on you. thats where id did an indian pick up, and it totaly dazzled him, (one handed with a pole mind u) after tht i was off to the races,

but one of the little tricks i kinda made up, (or maybe it's alredy out there, idk) but now when go for a gb, i flip my back wrist over, (kinda hard to explain) but after i quickly snatch the ball it's alredy in a cradle, and therefor protected, hasn't let me down yet, but one thing to watch out for is if u don't have the cuff/wrist thinggys on your gloves ( i have defts) but if u get smacked in the wrist when it's upside down it can hurt like a bee-atch

So wait... when you turn it into your pocket your wrist faces up righ? and whick way does your thumb face when you turn it, towards your body or away from your body?

MeTHLax18

yea it does help with stick skills.
it makes you more creative with what you do on the field.

i just like throwing it onto the sidewall and tossing it around only using the sidewall

Wait, can someone further expain which direction the head spins in an indian pickup?

so the ball is on my right, and my stick is facing down to the left of the ball.
2) take the stick, and move it away from the ball, (diagonal up *left*) make the open face of the stck look towards the ball.
3) bring the stick back towards the ball, slapping it with the outside (left) sidewall.
4)as the ball is in movement to the left, curl the scoop around and scoop the ball up with the right side

the stick face should be back to normal now.

Ok I think I have it but I wanna know if I'm doing it rigght. I start with my stick in my right hand and the ball sorta near my left leg. I drag the ball with the sidewall towards the right side of my body and turn my wrist so it hits the sidewall oppisite the one you just dragged it with when I turn I turn toward my body.
