In March-April, during a lacrosse game, i got layed out and landed on my left shoulder. Minor concussion. My brother, an x-ray tech, took a few x-rays of my shoulder. On my left side, the collar bone is curved and there is a space between my collar bone and shoulder area. On my right, the collar bone is moreso straight than curved, and there is no space. No problems with my shoulder in the following months. In late August-early September, my shoulder started popping. No pain, just a popping sound when i moved it a certain way. In November, i went to an orthopedist. He checked me out, said i was fine. He even said i had hyper-flexibility in my shoulder. He had me get an MRI of the shoulder. MRI came back, showed him the pictures. Final diagnosis; my shoulder socket is too big. I told him i still want to play lacrosse, and he said i should probably stay away from high-contact sports for a while.

Does anybody have any information regarding problems with the shoulder socket being too large?

Thanks for your time and response. Much appreciated.

I just so happen to have watched a few episodes of ER, so I consider myself qualified to give you medical advice.

I think you can play lacrosse. In fact, it might be a good idea to have someone beat your shoulder with a baseball bat for a few minutes, just to make sure its in that socket well.

My shoulder doesn't pop all the way out of socket. Just kinda like when you crack your knuckles.
