Short answer - NO
Long Answer NFHS Boys Rule 6- Technical Fouls
Section 3. A player shall not impeded the movement of an opponent or his crosse.
Art 1... A player may not
a. Use the portion of the handle that is between his hands to hold an opponent.
b. Step on the crosse of an opponent
c. Hold an opponent with his crosse
d. Hold or pin an opponent's crosse against the body of the opponent with his crosse
e. Hold an opponent with his free hand that is off his crosse
Officials will enforce the grabbing or holding of an opponent's crosse using e. above as the rule.
Advantage / disadvantage is what I'm looking at with holds. Bad defense (You get beat) then try a hold move is a disadvantage that most officials will call. As officials we can not reward bad lacrosse by not making the call.
Art 2 explains when holding is permitted. It also explains that hands must be together on the crosse and must be from the side or front, or if from the rear exerts no more than equal pressure.

One thing I want to point out, LAX RefNJ is totally correct. When you asked can you grab a players stick, I was thinking you meant can you pick up someone elses stick and play with it. This is an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, but if you hold it like LAXRefNJ describes then it is just a technical foul. :)

It's only a foul when the official sees it, but I never told you that OK

I disagree with that. It's still a foul, just one you didn't get penalized for ;)

NFHS 5.9 Situation D: B1 drops his crosse, then secures an opponent's crosse and continues to play: RULING: Personal foul, unsportsmanlike conduct.

Yeah, I think you could go either way on that one: interference or unsportsmanlike.
I would probably lean toward unsportsmanlike because it's such a bonehead thing to do, but if two players were having fun with each other and laughing about it, and it was far away from the play of the ball, I might do nothing.
