Well there isnt really. Stay on the balls of your feet, Practice doing this during regular playing. Makes for faster breaks and of course, sprints.

yeah i saw this thing on ohio buckeyes and how they have a technique coach who has drastically improved the speed of the players (there defense was sadi to be really fast this year i think), anyways the main thing i can remeber is to keep pumping your arms but remember to keep the compact and close to the body, sry if this is wrong

we had a speed coach for a time last year, everyone got dramatically faster. all of the things sound wierd and feel awkward but it defintley helps. clinch you're butt cheeks and delibrately point your feet as straight as possible. this makes the motion of your legs propel forward as well as it can, reason being when you run you naturally point your feet outwards slightly.

Running sprints on stairs and hills help, too. It just makes the run harder because you're going on an incline. Really helps get the burn in those quads, too.

the main musles are your whole body
when sprinting correctly all the musles in your body will be used... the hammys and glutes are prolly the most important though

You wanna lean foward while ur sprinting, it helps with overstriding. Taking huge strides isn't the quickest way. And move ur arms faster, it will make ur legs move faster also.

Also running with foot weights, such as the sand bag ones that velcro around your ankes, will help improve speed. A friend of mine wears them at practice everday, only taking them off for games. You should see how explosive he is--its ridiculous.

You're telling me those ankle weights work? I've never heard anything good about them...just that they hurt your knees.

Dont, it will make you faster and all but in the long-run its not good for you. Kind of like crack

well, speed drills work :
High knees
Skip high knees
Deons ( straight leg running)
lunges
This stuff works out your range of motion, and improves muscle, making you faster
oh ya,also, sprints and hills and stairs ;)

My Athletic trainer had told me and a few of the middle linebackers on our football team , that the best to gain foot quickness is Jumping Rope and Suicides, but the best to gain just normal sprinting speed, like on the 40 is just running sprint ladders.

ive been sprinting lately to prepare for try-outs and I'd say (im not incredibly fast 7:57 mile) Im slowly improving. But what you should really focus on is like 40 yard dash and 100 meter.

Im pretty sure there these mini hurtles that stick out of the ground in a line. I guess it makes you lift your feet up further, more powerfull training.
