I play defense and I am in 7th Grade.
I am kind of (not really) out of shape but I am doing indoor.
I want to make the switch from defense to lsm this year but I need my coach to want to put me there.
I need to get in shape, noticed and able to play middie.
(I also need to diet. I am a picky eater so I need your help.)
Please give me tips for all of these things.
Thank you guys very much in advance.

well for one thing your gonna need to build your endurance. so run when ever you can. if you want to play long stick middie i also would recomend that you build up your arm muscles, back muscles, and rotary(sp?) muscles. diet wise, just try to eat healthy. for instance try to stop drinking pop or stop eating alot of sugar. those are pretty much the basics your gonna want to work on. also stick skills of course.
good luck with it

alright everyone says you have to have endurance & it's true but dont listen to mile times or whatever, cause on the field you feel differently its the thrill of the game, who wants it more how hard you're willing to push your body, but avoid fast food fries & other bad junk foods, run a bit more & work on position cause it is harder to play futher away from cage (lsm) then close D cause i mean the closer you are to osmething just in general you'll be able to sense/move with it more so work on position

I'll tell you what my coach told me when he put me @ LSM,
You put the best athlete on your team at LSM (usually)
MY best advice, be an all around good athlete. Combo of strength, speed, quickness, take away checks, (size doesnt hurt either) would make for a good LSM.

i agree with nukon, i think probably the best skill that you would want to work on would be your gb's, and your man ball stuff. because you will be put on mostly for faceoff's.

Just build up your endurance and your strength.

LSMs should be some of the top all round atheletes on the team.
You also need to have quick feet. Not flat out great sprint times (this doesnt hurt). This is because you will most likely be guarding the opponents best middie and he is going to want to take a hard run from up top, make a fake or two and keep running...You need to be able to stay with him throughout and force him to make a pass or pull out and work the ball around.
You also need to work on you ball handeling abilities and carrying the ball over to the offensive zone and dishing it off.
Lastly (for now) is wing play...you need to be able to know where to go and what to do as a LSM playing wing on FO.

if you built up your endurance and your strength by getting in the wright room you should be good enought

you also need to have excellent lacrosse smarts. not only are lsm's usually the best athletes on the field but they tend to truly understand responsibilities, priorities, and positioning on the field.

You're in 7th grade. Don't worry about a strict diet. Just stay away from unnecessary sugar. Stop drinking sodas, candy, etc and eat all the vegetables your mommy tells you to eat!

are a defense man the main thing to remeber playing lsm is that you want to work on agility, quick feet, and good way to do that is acutualy do jump roping. Remeber on last thing do not cross your feet.

I'll say something of importance for you then RgLax.
At LSM you really do need to work on positioning and off and on stamina. I play pure LSM and probably run more than anyone on my team during a game. For a JV player I was pretty strong and I could push people away from GBs but next year it will be varsity and I"m trying to eat a lot of proteins and get in the weight room 3 times a week, and run 2 times a week. Although i'll have XC in the fall.
You will catch onto positioning after playing a certain amount of games, it's something you need to get a feel for, always square left if the guy is right handed. Only after getting beat in crucial game situations by the quickest middie on the other team did I realize the true importance on "squaring left".
Here is how the LSM should compare to other poles on the team.
You should be the fastest.
You should have the quickest feet.
You should be one of the smarter poles.
One of the loudest.
And have THE best stick skills.
If you get a hard earned GB then you HAVE to protect it until you dump it off to a middie or attack. You also might be involved in clears and if you drop one thats bad news.
