right i'm a sophmore on my team, and a midfielder. I really want to play attack, and i think i have the chance/ one of our attackman graduated and i think the coach is hesitant to place one of his older and better(?) middies there cuz they are already used to playing middie for so long on the team. so i think i can weasle into an attack line. but i need some tips to get him to recognize me as an able attackmen, what can i do? i'd really apreciate the help thanks guys!

start crankin it into the corners. . . and gettin right up after one of your teammates throws you a floater right outside the crease *getting up is required because if your teammate throws you a floater right outside the crease. . . you're going to get hammered*

could be a bit of an advantage depending on if you have a strong lefty on your team but you need BOTH HANDS!also in practice if you get rocked get right back up, dont *****.....thats just in general what coaches like to see for any position, work on your stick skills, hustle in practice & make sure coach knows you're interested...i dunno what your coaches are like but im sure he's got a lot of kids hes watching on that team everyday & if u tell him what you're interested in it'll be easier for him to decide...just be like hey coach i want to fill the attackmen spot, if it's alright with you

edit: make sure you're ready mentally to, like always remembering to mvoe aorund w/ the other attackmen, the ways you're jukes will be different riding & everything

as a defensemen id have to say the attackmen that i like guarding the least are the ones who have a lot of off ball movement so show the coach u can move without the ball

ok that doesnt sound to bad, i can use my right deciently althought it still needs a lot of work. but I always make sure i hustle and i never piss and moan. So you guys really would recommend me telling him i'm interested, i havent yet just cuz i didnt wanna seem like annoying...

i agree with you tkd when asking for a spot on any sport i never wanna seem annoying but everyone is always telling me that that is wat coaches love so id reccomend u ask him for a shot at the position

also in practice if you get rocked get right back up, dont *****...

thats what i was saying, floater being a slow pass, where you're gonna get jacked up.

ya work on quick passes, quick lay ups w/ both hands, and maybe some cranks to make you more accuarte....i am a middie but played attack most recently in summer league, and yo should work on your upper body strength and short distance sprints

btw-i back at middie, i love faceoffs and fast breaks

you need to convince him you can dodge, free your hands and get passes and shots off.

just explain to him one time that you feel you can be an asset to the TEAM as an attackman. i'm a coach and we do listen to kids and we like when kids want to be challenged. but as a coach, if he feels that the TEAM is better with you at middie, then you need to accept it too.

i would expect him to give you a serious look.

yeah be fluent with both of your hands. make sure you can do good fakes and dodges consistantly. for drills be the first one in line, that will always catch the coaches attention. go as hard as you can, that helps to. and be coachable, coaches love that.
