Hey what's up guys. My name is Chris and I am senior at my high school from the South Side of Chicago. As an 8th grader in Junior High I played in a league, once, then broke my leg skiiing and didn't play anymore. When I went into High School as a freshmen I searched and searched for a teacher or someone, in that mind, that would support my idea of trying to start a Club Lax team. As a school on the south side of Chicago there are not many schools around that have a club so the school figured, "Why waste the time and money". Enough with my history though. Finally, as a Senior of High School and working my butt off talking to Athletic Directors from schools on the other side of the city, our school is getting a team! Now that the Spring Season is coming up and the I am not sure what to expect, whether there will be tryouts or what not. Where do I start? Of all 2500 kids from my school I only know of 3 kids who have ever played in a league and probably only a handful that have actually held a stick, with the exception of in Gym Class. So I come to you guys, how do I further prepare myself? Physically that is. I know that Lacrosse players are supposively some of the quickest atheltes there are. So fill me in on some of your training techniques, or atleast point me in the direction of some threads or websites that may help me and guide me along the right lines. Thanks alot guys and look forward to being active in your forums.

Congradulations! You must be pretty into lacrosse to try and start a team. Anyway, make sure you get your stick skills fairly good, by playing wall ball and having your stick in your hand a lot. You don't need to worry a whole lot on upper body strength because your shot is mostly technique and form. Unless you're really weak of course. Focus on getting faster, by jump roping, sprinting intervals, and do squats and things. Good luck.
