do any of your coaches get pissed when you take a side or underhand shot?
mine go crazy and we have to run 5 extra sprints for every sidearm shot.

those kind of shots are good to take, watch an NLL game and like most of the shots are underhand or from the side

bballplayer, i think younger players, even high schoolers, need to stop emulating the guys they watch on tv. those guys are the best lax players on the planet. they already have sound fundamentals and now they do what works best for them given the situation.

you need to shoot overhand for speed and accuracy. sidearm shots are good when the right opportunity presents itself.

yeah but if you can do those types of shots theycan be some of the best thigns to do, so once you can shoot decent overhand id start working on the other types of shooting.

generally the higher level you get the less coachs care.If your 8-9 and your doing it,then your risking your fundamental skills.

Good point. After you master the basic shooting skills, i think you should do what ever you feel most comfortable with.

my favorite shot i ever took i was playing short stick & fall ball...fast break towards goal im out front no defender, guy passes me the ball it goes WAY behind, reach back do the one handed catch, & ripped a one handed side arm shot...i swear it was the fastest shot the i've ever taken...it looked so tight too, everyone was talking about it afterwards...my coahc was just like "promise you'll never do it in a real game" i was like coach i'll never have a short stick in a real game

my coach is a tight *** and gets pisses when we do anything that is beyong hte "basics". Flips out over everything that is what I like to call a "creative" pass of dodge. Such as, swim dodge, sidearm shot, underarm shot. The only thing he likes to see is like cross-faces, and roll-dodges.

our coach gets pissed. but some of our kids play hockey and tend to shoot better sidearm because they're used to the motion and what not. they might not consistantly get their full potential in power but they are deff more accurate.

Only if it is necessary. If I do just cuz, my coach said hed cut my wiener off.
