how many personal fouls can a player get before he's thrown out of a game???

5. i'm a ref. i know. and kids, don't yell at the ref. especially if it's their first game. it hurts.

ive only been thrown out of the game once... and when the ref asked for the ball... i kinda threw it at her. not fast mind you, but a toss... believe me, it scared the bejeezus outta her and got me benched for the next game by the coach. i bet yellin at the ref is worse...

usually im around 2-3 fouls per game...(too physical with my checks)

The coaches choice, too. I told my players if they yell at a ref, they're sitting. I'm not having any of that crap on my team. Players go to the captains, captains come to me.

I'll bench a player before a ref will.

No, after 5 personal fouls you are disqualified(not ejected). Just like basketball. :)

Five separate personal fouls gets you disqualified, regardless of total penalty time. Technical fouls have no bearing on fouling out. It is not discretionary; 5 personals and you're out. The player may stay on the bench and is not suspended for the next game.

You can, of course, get ejected at any time for fighting, tobacco, or flagrant misconduct, which carries a suspension,

Doesn't matter, NFHS rules means if you use tobacco you are ejected.
