I'll be the first to tell you that there is something called a search bar at the top left of the screen. Type in it and it will bring up similar subjects.
For Defense you want a stiff head. I reccomend that you go to your local lacrosse store and get a feel for some stiff heads versus some of the more flexible heads.
Some heads that I would reccomend for defense (that my friends use, I play attack), Warrior Revo Pro, Warrior Revolution, Gait Chaos, Gait Wizard, STX Bionic, STX G-Force 1st Gen, and even the Brine Edge.
Some heads I will unreccomend are the Brine Answer, Gait Torque, STX Deuce, Warrior Evo Pro, and the Warrior Blade.
Also you can do your own research and analysis.

I have seen people use Evo Pros for Def.
The Swerve, Cyber, Arrow...
Anything overly Pinched and/or Flexible heads shouldnt be used.
The only time I would use a Flexible head is maybe if you was running LSM and wanted something light.

Go go go for the First Generation G-Forces beacuse you can file down the sticky out things and hit people.

any small head (short and pinched) is not good, like an evo pro would be bad

why not just look at the heads that are good for defence.....

you can use a torque, and an Evo pro. Ie seen one kid use a Deuce, but any stiff head, like a revo or the H2

Try to avoid using a Goalmaster for D. The ref will probably yell at you.

nah man i use the evo pro and its great, but try to stay away from some of the earlier evolutions and revolutions. i went through 4 of those in one season(good thing warrior took them back each time). say no to the deuce and the blade(weak and i hate the extreme flared sidewalls) nitrous is good. get an X2 and pinch it. proton power is pretty strong one of my friends has it on a pole and loves it.

although, if you pinch it to 10'' then put it on a pole and cut it, its legal(i still havent worked out how o make it shorter

Never use a Swerve, its suicide.

yeh...you've gotta go for something sturdy (i play with STX's bionic) >>> otherwise you're forking out constantly to replace deformed or broken heads. fine if you're brodie merrill, but forget about it otherwise
i like the bionic coz its pretty fat which enables me to get a lot more head to knock downs (nothing more frustrating then a ball whistling past your stick by a centimetre or two). i play with a leather kit in it because ive found that the wide throat section leads to a shallow pocket when using a mesh.
good luck smacking those cheating short sticks' wrists!

I dont know what all of you are talking about. I use the evo pro on my pole and have been for almost a year and I love it. Its not warped or anything. nothing.

I recommend any kind of revo, edge (except ice and X) and Stx wide heads (proton, X2)
Right now i am full time LSM, I never play close defence. I am useing a proton power because of the pinch, scoop and weight. It isn't very stiff but works nicely for my style of play. I only throw checks when the attackmen/middie makes a mistake which allows be to take the ball away. I mostly push, and slap check rather then poke (although i do it sometimes). It's perfect for LSM.

i use mainly attack heads because I like the way they hold the ball in with the bigger pinch
I have an evo pro and razer 2.0 pro and I might use my truth thats getting strung up now

Well Im currently using the brine vapor and its working fine (not to mention its pretty cheap). Other good heads would be the x2, proton, bionic.
You dont wanna go for flimsy heads like the deuce, finalizer, razer pro.

Supposedly the Revolution 2.0 by Warrior is made for defensemen. Check it out.

I'm using an e3 right now, but I don't like it as much as my old cyber. The cyber is the best head I've ever used.

okay im a d player and i currently have a brine vaper hard-mesh 3 shoot strings 2 across 1 v and i need a new head the vapor will break soon i am thinking of many to get but i need some advice what to get..
what i am thinking of getting are :
STX bionic
GAIT torque
warrior helix
i am leaning toward getting the stx bionic because it looks like a very good sturdy head with good looks and i hear alot of good reviews here
so what is the best choice out of what i listed and what other do you guys recomend

i just got moved from middie to lsm, and i use my super pinched proton power....i can cradle well with it, and it just feels natural. what other heads would do me well on LSM?

H2 is the bomb for defense.... i personally love mine and if you can find one i'd pick it up, it is one rough head. aside from that i'd look to the revoPro or an edge-i've never missed a groundball with an edge. I even have an old Brine Shotgun as an emergency head-that thing is hard as a rock.

i recommend the razor pro, and razor pro 2.0 the are good for poke checks and wrap checks

ok here are the heads that poles on long island most commonly use
brine cyber, brine e3, warrior razer and razer pro, stx proton, warrior revo pro and 2.0, brine nitrous
all good and most arent even that expensive
the cyber is a bargain at around 45 unstrung, a little wide, but string it good and its no problem
i highly recommend the nitrous, great scoop, perfect pinch(bridges gap b/w extremely wide heads and overly pinched heads) and is a complete beast in terms of durabilty

i got the stx bionic last season and i love it..its great for scooping ground balls. and since i am one of our teams faster defensemen i do take it up field alot and the pinch help a ton..its definatly a good head

iv got a mojo head on my pole right now. it does just fine. but iv got a revo 2.0 on my short pole. should i use that instead? its got a top pocket too. should i ditch the top pocket since im starting to play long pole?

I don't play D but I have a bionic and it's great all around. Some of my defense friends use it, it's a stiff head not to mention it's pretty inexpensive.

i use an e3 and its not to flexible but not the stiffest the pinch is good but the scoop is a little small
SheiK
05-28-2007, 11:49 PM
You can use the Torque...it's light and durable. Also stiff enough!
Just avoid the flimsies and attack-minded heads.
If you're good already, pinched but stiff heads are fine.

Lol everyone rips on Arrows for defense...but if you get the second gen...they really arent that bad..its what I use on my backup pole and it works pretty well..Plus getting hit with the wings HURTS.
