With regards to "about to graduate"...does that mean your already a senior?
If it does, your in a tough position. Most, by that, probably all, colleges are done with their recruiting classes before thanksgiving. Meaning they've already found 10-15 guys that have committed to going to that school. This means all the athletic money (DI and DII) is gone. I was talking to an assistant at Ohio State, and he said that they were done looking for kids before the senior year started.
If you want to be recruited and haven't had any looks your senior year, your going to have to do a 5th year of high school. I'd suggest going to prep school on the East Coast if your serious about recruitment. Try the Top 205 camps during the summer also.

you still may have a shot at some DIII schools. No money athletically, but if your smart, you may get some academic cash. Im looking hard at a DIII school in Rhode Island, they were 4-8 last year or something, but i get to play. Look at Clarkson, it in upstate new york, or maybe a Vermont or Keene State(NH)

Yah I did mean im a senior just about to graduate. I didnt mean going to a university this upcoming year tho. I'm 17. I was thinking of taking a year off and just playing Jr. A box this year, maybe next too, going to a couple camps in the mean time, before I went to the U.S. For University, but I want to start talking to people now finding out where would be best for me and my lacrosse. I am also looking for a scholarship, so if im taking a year or 2 off am I making a HUGE mistake? haha....annnd (im an idiot :imparied: ) describe walk on a little further. I dunno im probably a 75 avg so i dunno where that'll get me either.

Apparently wondering about recruitment camps any time and wondering about any camps for the advanced player before april is the same thing. So I geuss I have to change this into a 2 topic discussion. http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=36345
1 - I just need a really good recruitment camp, the best, whats your opinion on the best one.
2 - Need a camp before mid-april just cause I want to get some expieriance before my season starts up here.

No good recruiting camps this time of year. Everyone is busy with their seasons from February - June. There were a couple of recruiting tournaments in January like Peddie in Jersey and Warrior Challenge in San Diego, and a clinic at Michigan with a lot of college coaches, but those are all over with now.

"walking on" is when you were not recruited by a college and no athletic scholarship money was offered to you but you enroll in that school anyway and basically just try-out and make the team. sometimes the coach will offer a scholarship the following year.
lots of people "walk-on" to college teams. i did. some kids for whatever reason just didn't get noticed out of high school but are still good players that can play at the college level.

Not to highjack the thread but, how often do college coaches except walk on's at the D1 level?

Usually there's only a few slots. The better the team. For instance, Hopkins the last two years only had 1 spot open (I forget the position) and 35 guys tried out for it. But I guess the smaller/ not as good DIII would prob. have more.

Very rarely. At the very top level, sometimes people who even get recruited get cut. Ask anyone who's been recruited at the top level and they should know about over-recruitment.

Yeah, but say youre walking on in a non superstar caliber school, you would simply make it into the school on your own and when you got in talk to the coach. He may or may not let you try out.

The Top 205 at the University of Maryland. My son went two years ago, there were over 50/fifty coaches on the sideline at the all-star game. Including UVA, Princeton, etc.

I walked on to a D1 team and there were probably 5 walk ons on a 50 man squad. So, yes it is possible but its no easy task.
