ok well i was thinking about going to a UVA lacrosse girls summer camp this summer. im starting highschool in the fall as a freshman and have been told that if i work hard over the summer i have a shot at varsity. i really would love to play for varsity (its been done in the past that freshman have made it to varsity) and i was wondering if the UVA camp would help. i heard it was great but i wanted everyones opinion here if they have gone. my second choice would be hopkins but id really love to go to UVA... has anyone been? did you like it? dis-like it? i live in Maryland and if you know any other camps near there id love suggestions! thanks
ETA: i know its early to be thinking about it, but i want to sign up soon before all the spots are taken.

camps are great...but that alone will not help...over the summer join a travel team and play a lot especially if you can play against older opponents...also workout hard to remain in shape....hire a college player or someone with a lot of experience to give you one on one attention to tweak your game...in the fall attend as many clinics from now and then...smaller colleges have great clinics and you get a lot of attention...play fall and winter ball....have a great attitude, be serious but have fun and listen to the coaches...that may make the difference but since u live in md it may be more difficult than here since lax is so competitive there....neway those are things i did to make varsity...i literally played close to 4 seasons of lax against varsity and college players from the end of 8th grade to tryouts...

yeah i attended UVA's summer camp last summer and im planning on doing it again this upcoming summer. it was pretty cool.... amy appelt stayed in my suite=) haha but it's really cool... i got to work with some of the best players and that helped me lots. but after camp, I did lots of wall ball over the summer and ran a lot until indoor lacrosse season. so i say go to fastbreak lax camp, but don't count on it being your only thing for improvement, conditioning, and such (basically what celtlax said)

Hmm I've heard mixed things, though I'm sure it's all personal preference.
Personally I've attended at least five Maryland camps over the years and every one I've been to has been good. I reccomend their four day Open Camp for you.

yeah my two friends went and said they didn't like it but it's all preference. I'd recommend the princeton camp if you can get there...i thnk it's pretty good, i learned a lot and you play like scrimmages everyday so if u like that then give it a try.

oh yes i completely agree and understand that. im already on a travel summer lacrosse team and we play against highschool teams throughout NJ, OC, Baltimore etc.
i practice daily and have a bounce wall thing and attend monday and friday night games with my summer travel team against higschool teams (we can beat the 11th graders lol and we are in 8th hehe) i recently did a clinic with some girls from a college nearby that play lacrosse and i learned a lot about my defensive position and that helped a lot.
i run daily and do work outs all the time...
i was just wondering about the camps lol thanks for the advice though. i also heard that the princeton one was good. my friend whent there and she also went to the Action Lax one... has anyone gone there?? so i was thinking mainly hopkins or UVA. uva did really good last year, i think they won over all im pretty sure so i thought that they would be pretty good.
thanks!

then it sounds like you are on the right track.....just as an fyi i've been to several camps, the smaller schools have less campers, therefore, you get more attention...i went to one winter day camp at D3 school where i was the only camper and that was great...i actually ended up up practicing with them...offense v defense etc....
