hey guys... long time since i last posted. neways... ok the situation at my school is that we dont have many girls trying out for goalie (actually like none... one girl that has played before). i was a soccer goalie for like 4ish years before i quit soccer for lacrosse (burned out on soccer pretty much). i play mostly low defense and d-wing (what can i say, i love defense). do you think that i would be able to pull of being a backup goalie and regular field player? ne tips... or comments... or nething? i know soccer goalkeeper is way different (bigger goal and ball and u dont have a stick) but basically the angles are the same... with some practice maybe ill be able to get the hang of it?

YEAH, go for it. even if it doesnt turn out too good, at least you will get some credit from your coaches and teammates (ahem, team hero?). anyway, yea as far as the angles thing goes, yea should be the same. overall you shouldnt have a real hard time adjusting. our current goalie played goal for field hockey (which is soo much more different, slower) and shes pretty good for having no formal training. best of luck to you.

absolutely! Thats actually how I became a goalie-no one wanted to and i always seemed to be putting myself in front of the ball and was already playing a low D--and I ended up loving playing goalie. Who knows you could end up being really good and loving it as well even if you just end up playing back up !
Good Luck with your season! :)

um i dont play goal, but a common mistake is when goalies either come out to far or stay in too far (the goal). also some have a bad habit of squating down too much. dont be afraid to get hit in the head, its madd annoying and frusturating to others when the goalie ducks because a ball is flying at their head. umm so i guess thats some stuff not to do.

my biggest tip would be (well two) would be:
1) ALWAYS Watch the Ball- don't look at shooters head, feat, eyes, ect.
2) Step Up towards the shot--its makes you bigger and cuts the angle off--

just be big in general--and remember it has to get through 11 other people to get to you--(thats the big mental part..just erase the last goal and work on saving the next shot..) haha okay so that ended up being more than two things--hope that helps! good luck with everything!
