Hey. I thought this would be appropriate for the snowboarders megathread but unfortunetly we can make a sub poll inside a thread. Hmm, that may be a good idea to suggest.

Anyway, for you snowboarders out there, do you ride with music?
I didn't until this season and i found that it helps me. I get a rythym to carve at and for some reason my brain is messed up but i do 360's easier.
I think all snowboarders should try it once. The only set back is i can never hear my friends.

I dont, I should though since I need some music that is heavy to help pump me up when I am in the park. All that soft and melow music just calms me right down...Not saying there is anything wrong with it just its too calm for me when I want to attempt something.

But yeah I see people all the time with music and I just never do since I am always with others so it would kind of block out all the dumb stuff we say.

i hav like a beanie that has built in headphones but i usually tend not to listen while riding for safety reasons...u can't really hear ur surroundings if they r really loud so if i do listen it's so i can barely hear it but really hear my surroundings...there was a boarder in front of me who was blasting music and he didn't hear a kid yell behind him and the kid took the boarder out, pretty messy crash if you ask me...so i'll try and avoid that but yeah music would def. pump me up on the mountain

I listen to chill, awesome music at low volumes, but not when I'm with my bros. Well, I will for an hour or two, but I like to be able to hear them. So here's part of my list:

MTN.LAB soundtrack
Lame soundtrack
Afterlame soundtrack
91 Words soundtrack
The Go! Team
RJD2
DJ Shadow
Radiohead - OK Computer
Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
The Shins - either concerts or Chutes too Narrow

My music isn't typical shred music, at least not all of it, and there's other stuff that I listen to. Mars Volta is good for the pumping up, but other than that it's just the stuff that I find is brilliant. Brilliant stuff makes me think better, and making me think better makes me snowboard better. There's a distinct cycle. 80's pop is good too. Which is why the Lame soundtrack is what I shred the best to.

i don't snowboard but when i ski i usually just put it on shuffle all the songs. i just keep one ear in and make my dad sit on the the other side of me on the lift so i can hear him

I listen to some rock, some classical, some wierd 80s dance music.

I don't because if some kid is out of control coming behind you and you can't hear them...uh oh. Plus other safety reasons. I might try that one headphone thing though, sounds like a pretty good idea.

Yeah, I usually do one phone, or keep it really quiet. I hate when peoples music is so loud that you have to listen to it all the way up the lift.

I never tried it but I am hesitant because I cannot hear my friends when they talk. I just got a shuffle for free (won it in a raffle) so I might try listening to that.

I always listen to music when I board. I have an Ipod shuffle so i use that and it's perfect.
