i wish that il article was a little informative, the uslacrosse site didn't have much either....they probably aren't playing much like a team yet...a lot of new players, right?
Not sure ... the only release we got was from Northwestern's athletic department, which is basically what you see on the site.

the lack of coverage for that game alone makes me cynical regarding the wlax pro league...see the other thread...but i do love the il cover, can't wait for that issue...

From Lax Power (also noticed it's on the NU site):
Score by Period:
NU 8 - 6 - 5 = 19
US 6 - 3 - 4 = 13
Northwestern Scoring Breakdown:
Kristen Kjellman: 2 goals, 4 assists
Meredith Frank: 4 goals
Aly Josephs: 3 goals
Laura Glassanos: 3 goals
Sarah Albrecht: 2 goals, 1 assist
Hannah Nielsen: 2 goals
Hilary Bowen: 1 goal
Lindsey Munday: 1 goal
Caitlin Jackson: 1 goal
Casey Donohoe: 1 assist
I've played against one of them, that's pretty cool.

Wow, that is extremely depressing. Even if it is an exhibition game, the US team is expected to dominate. The Men's team destroyed Hopkins and Loyola...I would expect the same for any national team to do. Reminds me of the 1980 Olympic Russian Hockey team destroying any opponent they could face, even NHL all-stars.

AH I WAS THERE! It was an awessome game to watch. I was expecting team US to stomp NU, but from the begininning NU was strong.

I think it might be for the same reason the US basketball team didn't do so well in the last olympics, despite the fact that they are chock-full of superstars. They didn't work as a team. Obviously this is just a theory, as I didn't see the game or any parts of it, but that would be a first guess as to why the US team, relatively recently put together, lost to a NWern team that has played together before, but might not have the talent or experiance as team USA.

Thats insane. How does team USA lose to another other team..in the United States. Technically it is supposed to be the best team inside this countries borders. Like Lax101 said...hopkins got beat by mens team USA, shouldnt we expect the same for the womens. Maybe we should just send northwestern to compete in the next Womens World Cup

they must be getting a long lecture, and/ or lots of running for loosing, from their coach.

I was just reading up on this at uslacrosse and apparently there are only i think it said 6 returners, correct me if I am wrong because I might be. So a lot of it is probably chemistry.
But still, there is so excuse for what is supposed to be the best team losing to northwestern, it just doesn't make sense.
The answer to the question comparing the Men's World Team and the Women's World Team was evident to anyone who attended their on field demos at the National Convention. Both have great coaches. One of the 2 teams have a couple of players who think it's okay to upstage their coach at a national clinic and draw attention to themselves. Nuff said.

wow that makes me sad for the us team. they really should have won no matter how good NU is. they ARE the uS team. way to go NU!

Maybe we should just send northwestern to compete in the next Womens World Cup
Except this Wildcat would be playing for Australia again.

The US Team played the Elite Team players for most of the first 2 periods. The defense was a sieve. The Elite players could not keep up with the faster, younger NW players. No lesson was learned from the World Games.
The US players that could compete with NW were Appelt and Roguski. Appelt was pulled for the majority of period 2 for not following the game plan. Chrest looked good as did Lewis-Lamonica, Kasper, Oliver and Adams.

what does that mean? What was she doing?

She probably just wasn't going along with set plays and offensive strategies that the coaches had outlined prior to the game. So they pulled her.
Maybe they could learn something from her.
Something tells me that the US Developmental Team has a better chance of beating any team than the World Cup Team does. If they looked beat in terms of athleticism by the Northwestern team, just as they did in the World Cup, it's obvious what their weakness is. I think we all know it won't happen again.

I saw the USA team play Boston University (#3 poll). Good Game, USA seemed to play well as a team. Game was great to watch - USA won by a few goals.
After the game - both teams and coaches hung around and signed autographs for about 30-40 youth players that came to watch.

I'll get to play a few more too before they go off to Duke, NU, and Hofstra like places, but in college I don't know. Right now there are many options, but I have yet to figure out what I want to do. I'll probably end up somewhere in the NE, but where exactly and what kind of lax I want to play I have no idea.

yea, it's surreal to play against some of these kids that go off to big programs...last weekend I watched the OSU alumni game, it was just so cool to see the players having great time, I so want to play in college....a lot of the girls had committments by the end of fall...so this spring is going to be real important for you.....good luck!!
on side note OSU plays NU, ND, PSU, Rutgers at home at this year...I can't wait....
also, anybody here planning on playing at Lehigh Univ. inaugral 4 v 4 tourney on president's day weekend....I've been trying to twist some arms here....
