I go to the same school as this kid, and my mother is a teacher there. I think this suit is a good idea because he's right. The way that the teachers teach is unfair because guys dont want to be told what to do all day right?

so it's the schools fault because they aren't pandering to the rebelious nature of boys? Now, I'm not saying that the school isn't discriminating, but they shouldn't have to make concessions just because boys act out more. The kid suing is trying to get the school to give kids school credit for playing sports and allow kids to take classes pass/fail. Those options sound more like a kid who wants to get through highschool without working than making the school less discriminatory. If you are playing sports and your grades are suffering because of it you do the obvious thing...you get a tutor or you stop playing sports. You aren't in school to play football, you are in school to get an education. Same thing for the pass/fail...it just removes kids' responcibility to work hard allowing them to do just as little work as possible to get a passing grade. I say bunk on this kid...

Wow, a lawsuit, originating with a young white man who thinks the system's rigged against him!
That's pretty funny, actually.

Yeah, becuase the pain of child birth is something all men have to go through.
Look at it this way; as a a man:
You will get promotions faster
Get better raises
Get generally more respect
Life sucks. But oh well, at least we are on our way to equality. (BTW this lawsuit is really frakking stupid.)
eidt - LOL @ "Naturally more rebellious" This kid is an idiot and needs to take a Sociology 101 course.

The claim about % of males to females in classes is a well-known statistic throughout the US-it's not like it's a special situation just in that high school. In fact, females beat males academically in every subject except science classes-a bit weird, apparently involves some natural trait in male vs. female brains.

Yeah its pretty much BS if you ask me. But i do think you should be able to get gym credits for playing a sport. I don't see why i have to take a gym class when i play 2 sports.

You know whats funny about that, the president of harvard got in a lot of troubule over saying that men have a specific trait that allows them to do better in the sciences then woman.

The Science/Math stuff is probably BS, left over from the days where women were discouraged from studying sciences.
I'd be interested to see hard data from colleges or from standardized tests.
Now, there won't be as many women as men studying the hard sciences (Physics & Chemistry), or in the applied sciences (engineering), but I bet the women's grade curve follows the same trend as the overall pretty closely.
