Since there is a snowboarding megathread, I thought us skiers shouldn't be left out of the fun. So post your gear, where you usually go, any tricks if you can do some, and anything else you want about skiing?

My gear
Skis: Volkl Superspeeds
Bindings: Marker Motion LT
Boots: Nordica XS
Poles: No clue, I use my dad's old ones
Goggles: Some cheap Scott's with vents
Helmet: Giro Siestre (sp?)

I usually go to Keystone, I really like it. Huge mountain, tons of trails, and awesome night skiing. And its only about a 1.5-2 hour drive, depending on traffic.

I got an email today. It said, in part, "Thus far, Keystone has received 184” inches of snow thanks to record snowfall in November and December and considerable snowfall in January as well."

Today in northern Virginia, the temperature was in the mid-60s. I cleaned gutters. I trimmed shrubs. I removed a dead battery from my car. Bah, humbug.

Haha toma, I did something kinda like that a few weeks ago. I was weaving though, and this chick downhill of me was too, so I adjusted my path accordingly so as not to cross her, but then she stopped suddenly right in my new path, and I took her out hardcore. I'm suprised she didn't get hurt, she was only about 5'7" and I'm 5'9" 200 lbs and she got right up.

on big trash day i took(legally) some guy's bn k2 skis and am wondering if anyone wants them. I dont ski though. I did once, but got bored, mostly cuz the hill was a bunny slope.

for those who dont know, big trash day is the day when everybody throws out stuff that is too big for the people to take on a normal day.

They have such an event in my fair city too, and the first pair of my own skis that I ever took to a ski area were acquired in exactly the same fashion. They were Dynastars with ancient Salomon bindings. It hurt when I eventually gave them to a thrift store. I hope whoever got them, and someone did, enjoys them as much as I did.

To keep within the spirit of the thread, I get out only a few times a year if that often. I make it as far as the nearby areas in southern Pennsylvania. I have a few pairs of skis - Fischer, K2, whatever. Nothing remarkable. I'm no good, but I do have fun.

Nice, Whistler sounds tight. I'm thinking about spending some time there in the future like winter break during university or something, since I am probably going to Canada for university.

Edit: 500! Woohoo!

i got some soloman skiis and my dad's somewhat old diabalo boots (or whatever that brand is) i always go to mammoth, and i love it. deepest base in the country right now. the only thing i kinda dont like about is it gets really windy sometimes so they have to shut down some of the top lifts, and its always really crowded now since its the 2nd most visited resort in the country, next to vail. i'm going to park city next weekend, what should i expect
