View Full Version : A One-Piece Pad

Guys, I had an idea about a one-piece pad that consisted of g-force gloves, shoulder pads and arm pads all stuck together, which i got from looking at the rotating picture of gary on http://www.gforcenation.com/gforce.html . I noticed that the pads were all basically touching each other anyway, so why not get some thread and sew 'em up? thought that if you extended the end of the arm pad all the way to the wrist, loosened the cuff on the glove, and stuck the end of the AP to the inside of the glove where the cuff starts it would become like the "floating cuff" on the warrior superfreaks and mac daddys. As for connecting the shoulder pads, all it would take would be a little bit of extra plastic. I was just wondering what you guys would think of the idea.

I can't really see the point, and it might possibly reduce your ability to move around freely.

a few problems with that idea:
1) That would be extremely expensive, to pretty much buy the entire G-Force line. That would cost about 330 bucks. I don't think many lacrosse players would be willing to spend that, especially if they have a small problem with any of their pads
2) If one piece of padding breaks or has a defect, then your entire "suit" is ruined. That would just be a pain financially-pretty much the same reason why the lacrosse world doesn't do one piece sticks (besides Harrow)
3) If you connect all the pads together, then that takes away a lot of independent movement between your body. That means that when you move, all of your pads will need to move together. By seperating the pads into gloves, armpads, and shoulder pads, you have a bit more flexibility and freedom with movement.
4) The fitting system would be a pain. Everyone comes in different shapes and sizes. For example, I'm a medium in G-Force AG's, but a large in their shoulder pads, and a 13" in their gloves. Unless someones completely proportionally small, medium, or large (most people aren't), then that wouldn't work too well.
5) Wouldn't that be kinda awkward to put on? In other sports where you have full body padding, it's usually in the shape of a shirt, so you can just slip it in like a regular t shirt. With these pads, it's not as easy.

As soon as I read the heading, thats exactly what I thought.
Yeah, and would it be like a shirt? With gloves attached? That would be weird, as Lax101 said.

I agree with all that has been said...HOWEVER on an optimist viewpoint...
What if you made some kind of locking mechanism for the pads that way you could connect them if you wanted or not...
I think we all know no matter what kind of arm pad you have...they ALL slide down...some less than others but they all move...
I knew a guy that tried to velcro his shoulder pad to his arm pads and it didnt work so well...

Mods this should be moved to the equipments forum
but definately sounds creative maybe if they enhanced the Rhino skin by brine and made a longsleeve with armpads on the shirt? then you buy the gloves seperately? that would be the closest i could think of but sounds akward
whats wrong with pads as they are?

There is one line from Gait that will all attach. Well, the Kidney, Shoulder and AGs will. Not sure which ones but it was on the site a while back.
Edit: It is the intrepid shoulder pads, intrepid bicep pad and intrepid armguard that can all be connected.

sounds liek more work then is needed. and if my armpads broke i would have to buy a whole new suit so they get more money then they are already stealing from me with rediculous prices

OK, guys, i was just wondering what you think, since it would stop the arm pads slipping an give you all-round protection. There goes that idea. I do like the clip-together idea, though, by stegmakk. BTW Coltslax, what is the powell power suit? I looked all over the internet for it and found no trace of it anywhere but here.

it would just take up alot of room and the mobility of the pads all sewen together makes them alot bigger. harder to store and harder to get on.

^^^I was thinking the same thing, no gloves.
It would probably work fairly well, but not be very practical.
