Ok so heres my problem: STUDYING. For some reason I can't ever bring myself to studying. I really do try to sit down and study but I just cant do it. I will try to sit there and study for hours but I cant do it, I end up studying for 15 minutes then I cant take anymore. Also when I study I dont think about what Im studying and that bothers me that I cant focus on one thing. Does anyone have any good studying techniques that they have and use and they actually work because I need some help badly. Thanks!

Note cards always help me and having a partner or someone who'll help you stay focused helps me, hope this helps you too!

Sounds to me like you have ADD.
Whenever I need to study for something, I just read through my notes.

I had that problem last year.
But reality sort of sunk in. If I dont do well this year, I cant get into the subject I want next year.
I got these little Books and wrote a whole heap of notes in them and read over the little books.

I can't really study either, but it is alot easier if you do it before going to sleep, because you can't really think of anything else you'd rather be doing. If you pay attention in class 100% of the time it also helps alot.

if you have a test one day, study for 15 minutes everyday for 3-5 days before,so it breaks it into chunks, and is not too much info to study at one time.

ok, ritalin and aderol are not the answer ppl... i take a strong stance against ppl who take drugs b/c they "cant focus". my advice... go somewhere where you dont have any distractions... go to a coffe shop, the library... anything other than where there's a tv or computer readily in front of you. trust me... i used to have the same problem and this actually worked for me. plus, if you get together with someone and study in groups, not only is it easier, but it's been proven to sink in better.

you have to have a determination, i know my grades count for college now and i turn off the tv and lay on my bed and study, b/c i find it hard to study on my computer desk, but i eventually get it done

Library, library, library. Many people can't get studying done in their house since their body and mind is used to it as a place of leisure and relaxation. That's why you shouldn't study in the kitchen or your bedroom--your mind associates it with food or fun--not studying. Go to a library!

You retain 90% of material if you talk about it with somebody else. Study in groups if you can.
I can't really study in groups because I like to work at my own pace and there's really not much to do together when studying. I do however do all my homeworks with groups and learn the material right then and there when doing the HW. This way, when studying day comes around then I don't have to study for that long since I've allready learned the material.
But in all honesty I don't study or work that hard and it's been working out for me so far. I just payed attention during grade school.

There is this studying technique called massing or grouping or something like that. I learned about it in psychology.
Studying tips I have learned in Psychology.
-The human brain tends to remember words at the beginning and end of a list.
Therefore if you're doing notecards or something, put the hard ones at the beginning and end, and the ones you already know in the middle.
-Spacing Effect
Space out your studying, don't do it in one big session.
Example: Chemistry test on Friday -- study 15 minutes an hour for two hours on wednesday. Study 15 minutes an hour for 3 hours on thrusday. Do not study for three hours on thursday night.
-Recall Effect (I think that's what it's called)
Studies have shown that test takers get better scores when they are in a similar environment to the one in which they studied.
Example: If you were chewing gum while studying, and wearing your favorite sweatshirt, take the test chewing gum and wearing your sweatshirt. If you were listening to music while studying, listen to that same exact music before taking the test.
I'm guessing you are in high school, and it is hard to see the effects of one test on your grade, but one test can make the difference between an A or a B in that class, and that can mean the difference between graduating with a 3.99 or a 4.00.
Focus.

the difference between graduating with a 3.99 or a 4.00.
Which won't make a difference at all, seeing as how college basically group together 3.9's together, 3.8's together, etc.
But solid advice
