I was not impressed with JHU. We got to watch the entire scrimmage and JHU was actually outplayed for most of the scrimmage. Schwartzman (sp?) did not play well at all. I've never been to impressed by him as a goalie and watching him in person proved it. JHU had a D-man who was about 6'4"...HUGE kid. Basically, JHU just looked sloppy, which is why I doubt that they will even make it to the final four this year.
I hate JHU but don't forget, this is only pre-season. It's definitely going to take a while to adjust to not having Kyle Harrison. They are a team that has to find their identity without him. I think this is very similar to last years (and maybe this years) Syracuse team, without a Powell to lead them.

I'm not a huge fan of Schwartzmann either, but he was effective in the 2nd hald of last year's championship. But you know, it's hard to judge from just one performance - he could have been hung over :chuckle:
Did you get to play? How'd it go?

I played. We had 3 goalies and we each got a quarter and whoever played the best got to play the 4th quarter. I played the second quarter and let in 3 goals off of 7 shots on goal: 2 man-down and one was a 6 yard shot off of a blown recovery from a slide. Didn't play well enough for the 4th though. Not trying to make excuses but the tendonitis in my left foot was acting up big time after the second so I probably wouldn't have played well in the 4th anyways. Defense did well against a very superior offense and talked through a lot of tough situations.
I was somewhat disappointed that PSU didn't pressure more while riding. I really didn't get any good practice at clearing the ball except for dishing it off to an open mid and having him run it over the midline. Attackmen were sitting on the midline and mids on the opposite boxline so I didn't get to show off on clears at all .
Sorry to hear about the tendonitis, but 57% sv % is quite decent, and it sounds like the GA's were due to the defense  As for the clears, well, you'll get 'em next time. Good luck.

yo.. kyle harrison is not god.. D1 teams are very dynamic.. a Kyle Harrison may be vital to a high school program, but D1 programs are quite fluid beasts..

Hey, was there a 27 on Hop, how did he do?

Hopkins isn't just suffering from losing Kyle Harrisson, they also lost Tom Garvey who was a phenomenal close defenseman, benson erwin who was a great shortstick d, matt rewkoski who was a good quartback for their offense, and chris watson there second great defesneman, peter leseure(sp?) who palyed really smart on attack, there long pole greg raymond, and kyle barrie from there attack. Thats a TON of good players to replace.
EDIT- There loss of D also explains for a poor performance by Jesse Schwartzmen (sp?)

All of these players that people have been naming are the kind of players that good D1 programs recruit each year. It's the Kyle Harrison's, the Mike Powell's, and the Ryan Boyle's that are the x-factor. They are almost impossible to replace and are a huge part of any team. When you lose a player like this you're guaranteed to have a down year while you create a new identity and put a player in to try and repair that hole.
