The rules of the league I play in specifically allow you to cut out the palms of your gloves. Is it worth it on modern gloves, specifcally defts? Has anyone cut their palms and liked the gloves less?

Well I would keep them in so that way you can use them in other leuges in the future

Its not worth because of what James stated.....and with defts the feel is superb. No need to sacrifice that.
Modern gloves have good palms. No need to cut them, unless you have lots of money and can buy another one when needed.

I bought a pair of old Brine Flexlite L-30's at a swap meet for that reason. Paid $5, cut the palms out for my club box league - feels like old times. I wear my Supercrosse's on the Field.

Yea thats a good idea. Buy some oldschool gloves with good protection, then cut out the palms so the crappy palms on those wont matter. Then keep your Defts for other play.

I use palmless gloves, harrow box heavy weight pro to be exact. Before this I used Brine Tridents with the palms on and i definitely like my harrows. Palmless is indeed the way to go.

Exactly. The old gloves we used to wear (L-35's) were bigger and bulkier, and didn't stay tight to the fingers, so cutting palms was necessary to maintain feel. Nowadays, it's unnecessary because the gloves are so snug and the palms give such great feel.
It's interesting - if you read Bob Scott's book on Lacrosse, he actually recommends that goalies cut the palms out of their gloves to maintain better feel. This was back in 1976 or 1977.

Ha, L-35's are real old school. I had a pair somewhere up the line in the L series. About 7 years ago. But since gloves are primarily made of mesh and very soft-grained leather these days, I see no reason to cut the palms.

im looking at my defts now...DONT DO IT! plus... if you did, it wouldnt really make a differences because the netted areas are small anyway...haha if anything i'd wanna see how defts would feel without the velcro wrist attachment...

I think that is the best way to look at it... Especially since the defts are AMAZING and they are really expensive, it would be a waste to ruin them. Use the other ideas and buy less expensive gloves and cut them out.
most of the people on my team cut the wrist cuff off

i know a lot of people have already stated but dont cut them. i was in the same situation if i wanted to cut out my palms in my mac's but decided that if i ever sold them, i would get more for them if i had the palms still in them.
go to a local lax shop or buy some really cheap ones online and go for it!

i have an old pair of EXOs and i cut the palms out, much better feel and grip, but depending on the type of gloves you have there really is noo need for cutting. I definitely suggest getting a cheap pair and expermenting.

If you have Leather palms that get really hard, I would cut the palms out...
In Australia we are allowed to cut out the palms, but must leave the fingers intact.

i wouldnt cut the palms. but if wheelax thinks you will get an advantage, i'm hard pressed to argue with him.
as others have said, back in the 70s and 80s, when it was legal, palms were made of plain horsehide. ever had leather work gloves on? (not welding gloves or anything like that) well they were thicker than that, and had less grip since the smooth side was out and the fuzzy side was in.
i could cut my gloves if i wanted to, but i havent run across a pair of modern gloves yet that i thought needed it
