personally i think wrap checks should be allowed.
only because first of all its a GREAT check.(when applied properly)
second of all, i've only seen my attackmen use this check.(correctly)
only when you're looking to hurt someone, it shouldnt be allowed
but with stick to stick contact it should be perfectly legal.
other than that, call it a slash...

i think thats the case...only if you use your free arm to hold a person...but its a big controversy in hawaii since we arnt an official sport yet... i kind of want to see if we can just allow it.

rules get modified. referees are limited. you pretty much follow what the organization believes is legal & illegal.

the wrap check is usually called because kids dont know how to control it, making it a slash. I use it when a Attackman tries to back into the crease. It easy to throw it with a longpole.

The wrap check is not illegal in HS lax, only if your local rules prohibit it, and it is also not allowed in youth lacrosse.

I don't know about the wrap check being illegal for HS, but one handed checks aren't allowed in the youth games here. It all boils down to controll. Even in HS here, unless someone is an exceptional player, controll is generally the problem.
In all slashing calls what we're looking for and judging by, is safety (how controlled is the stick, how hard and where is, the check) and what is the possibility that the check can actually do what it is supposed to do (dislodge the ball).
Therefore: 1) Very hard swing missing everything by 2 in. (or 2 feet)=uncontrolled stick=slash 2) one handed wrap check, properly executed with no hold and actually getting stick=no call 3) Whack at the back or to the arm away from the ball=little possibility of dislodging ball, only injury=slash
It was said by someone in this forum that he says during the pre-game, "if you're winding up for a one handed check, you're halfway to a slash before you start" has been an effective place to start to call the game from

i think that the wrap check is one of the best checks out there for attackman that are tryin to make a check along the sidelines, and in my area its normally called for a hold because most kids put their free hand on the person

Yea, but just make sure that your arm isn't extended past your back, meaning that your arm needs to form a straight line with your body. According to my coach, it is called a slash if done otherwise because of an "uncontrolled stick." Not sure if that is totally true, but I try to abide by it.
