alright there's a thread on how to get out of school but im wondering how often you guys skip & if anyone has the same reasons for skipping as i do...first off :read: my grades are awesome(school's easy) that's never a problem....i have a lot of friends that skip on game day's basically, however this is a problem because w/ most states if you dont attend schools you can't attend games(course if this is a club or travel team it doesnt matter)...so what they'd do is come to school for first or 2nd period & then get "checked out" for a doctor's appointment or something resting up the rest of the day for a game(this is both football & lacrosse) so i was just wondering why & how often yall skipped
edit:BTW im skipping today for numerous reasons.. which is what sparked this thread

I usually go to most of my classes i go in for attendance, then take about a 45min washroom break, so technically im not skipping b/c im on the attendance sheet, but im not in class. So if you count that as skipping well then i skip alot.

My school sorta doesn't care if you skip, but there's no reason to because thats notes and work you have to make-up. I don't mind class, later in life you won't be able to skip work everytime you have something to do after school.

Do you mean cut, or just take the day off. I take "mental Health days" during the year, but our parents have to call and send in a note when we return.

well my mom will let me stay home about one day a week which is nice, and then if theres something good to do ill just leave with friends and then in the summer everybody skips and goes swimming or to the beach

last time i skipped school was to go snowboarding with a friend in 8th grade, but now being in high school i'd fall way behind if i miss a day so i don't even miss school when i'm sick

i guess i'd say on special occasions...i took off last thursday and friday b/c i went to florida but i do take "mental health days" even though i write the notes myself (forge parents signature) and it seems to work. Sometimes i just decide not to g2 class then walk around or go outside or something then come back later, but if u get a cut slip it's like 2 hour detention each one.

Yeah, I never really ditched in high school.
There would be days where I'd be like, "Ma, I'm not going to school tomorrow." and she'd call me in that next day.
In college, however.. Man, having a room on campus to go back to and distractions makes it hard for me to make it to class

Yeah, im with you guys. I have perfect attendance, and i wanna keep it, cause it looks good on college apps. so if i am sick as hell, ill stay for first period and then leave, cause it counts as a full day. As for cutting, ive never done it, cause its way too easy to get caught.

Yea there's 3 months of school left and to start skipping now would be totally pointless. Yea good attendance is a real shiner on your college apps!

I never really miss school that much, if I'm sick I'll try to go to school and make it through some of my classes and then get out in around the middle of the day and just go home and rest, but I never really just don't go to school. Occasionally though if it is my birthday or I'm doing something special I may miss school, but not very much, and since I started high school (I'm still a freshman this year) I havn't missed a whole day of school because I want to get the best grades I can, and don't want to be doing a ton of make-up work and stuff.

It's impossible to skip classes in my school. They e-mail the attendance down to the office, and if your not in class in the next 10 or so minutes, the man hunt begins.
As for skipping school, I don't do it that much. My parents hate it when I stay home for being sick, there's no way I can skip without being punished.

^^^oh ya having good attendance is what's going to get you accepted in to schools........?????? :WTF: something tells me attendance doesnt really matter....course if you miss like 80 days that'll matter because you wont be eligible to even pass that grade but if it's like 8 or 9 days im thinking that doesnt matter at all....& i dont skip to the point where i even have to fill an attendance form out..what im talking about is like last semester i didn't miss a day(& i had football & fall ball so i thought tha was pretty good of me) this semester this is my first day....so i basically save up until the end of the year....last year i had 8 absents & 3 tardies in every class(4 tardies=1 absent, 9 absents & you have to fill out an appeal form(9 is too many)
i thought that was pretty well planned myself....this semester i cant exempt like any of my classes(all EOC's) so theres no point in skipping exam day which means ill be skipping the week of review before exams :agree:

In HS if I was kind of sick Id make it worse then it was just to stay home cause it would only be a few times a year and that doesnt matter. But now that Im in college and paying 32,000, skipping classes doesn't seem smart. That is unless your sick or something serious, but to skip a class because of most other things is stupid. We are already like 5-6 weeks into the semester and a few kids in my psych class have already missed 4 classes (a class which I have twice a week)

ya i dont think ill be doing this to much when college rolls around, it just seems kind of pointless...you only take the classes like 2 or 3 times a wk so whats the point in skipping even if it is just 2 hours of lecture....especially if im goign to try & get my doctor's so i can be a college professor skipping class is most definitley out of the option

i skip about twice a quarter for "mental health" days. so i miss about 8 days of school a year, which really isnt that bad i guess. i just cant take like 4 or 5 full weeks straight, so i feel like im going to go insane due to the routine(sp).

I never skipped a day in High School. Missed a couple days here and there, but if the 'rents or whoever you live w/ say its ok, i dont count that as skipping. In college, it's much easier to miss classes, even though you are paying a lot of money, ($35k a yr for HU) you have to motivate yourself to go to class. Everyone has their own reasons to go or not to go to class. I've missed more classes cuz i didnt feel like going in college than i did from Kindergarten through 12th grade, and I'm only a sophomore lol

The only times I've been out of school an entire day is for: being sick, or breaking bones. I was out of school for a week in 7th grade when I broke both of my arms and my collarbone haha.

at my high school we have days 1, 2, and 3 and the schedule rotates so its possible to miss none of your important classes cause you could potentially have a day 1 or 2 thats really slack and then also kids leave school that arent allowed for lunch and tons of people skip assembly every friday, my school is pretty bad at attendance

I try to go to school everyday. Not because I like it, but because there is too much make up work and my house is boring as hell. Plus a kid last year who had perfect attendance (through 4 years) got a 1,000 dollar scholarship, which isn't that bad for going everyday. Last year I only missed two days and that was for hockey.

I've never skipped an entire day without permission. However, I've left during my lunch period and ate off campus, and I've skipped English (easy class, and last bell) and gone to Sports Authority twice. I've left English class a few minutes early to "go see my lacrosse coach" but then I'd just leave and drive to lacrosse practice an hour early to see these girls that go to the school I play for. Uhhh. My other last bell teacher (we have A days and B days) lets us leave whenever we finish our work, so I've done that a few times too (like today) and either gone home or gone to practice early.

For me, it depends on the occasion. If I see a supply teacher in my technology class and no one else is in class, then I will skip it. Or if it is the last day of school, last period, and they are not marking atendance, then I will skip it. Sometimes teachers don't care on certain days. We were having an assembly one day. I walked in class and said I am leaving and the teacher was like "have a good break.". This was on last day of school before christmas break and we only had to go to first period.

Lots of good schools look at your attendance. The highschool I applied for will not accept you if you missed more than 9 days and each day after like 5 makes your chances of getting in less and less.

On gamedays, as long as we check in at the end of lunch we can play so ill skip the first half of the day, and show up at 12:30 and still be able to play in the game which works pretty well, Thursday and Friday next week im skipping for a snowboarding trip. I skip a couple times a month, usually to do other things that are more fun when everyone else is in school.

I know a guy that did it during the other day with some friends because we had a substite in Bio. They were walking down the avenue to go to a spot the hang out at at this hill up next to a park, when the regular Bio teacher drove by and saw them. She slowed down to say hi and thought that they were excused, then drove off. Then today she checked their attendance record and found ou that they ditched. Now they have all day ISS. Personally i don't skip school, i usually go even when im sick, because the make up work is a killer to do.

i kinda skipped today(got checked out after i went to 4th..so it still counted as being there but iw as only there for like 5 mins.)game day & we had A LOT of preparations(19-0....coach told us to stop scoring in the second 1/2(he actually has a dont go over being 10 points ahead rule but we just couldnt help it...we were man-up on at least 6 occasions during second 1/2 where we didnt drive the ball at all.we passed it around let everyone get a feel for it & wiated for their man to be released)...no offense to the other team or anything but wow....their program has gone down A LOT since last year)

Sorry, we have one high school in our city, but us freshman still go to the junior high for our classrooms for some obscure reason. So anyways, there is a new program at the high school that some kids are checking out to see if they want to do the program next year. Therefore, the kids told the sub they were going to the highschool to check out the program, so the sub bought it and let them go and everything. Didn't even check for a pass or call the office to make sure it was ok.
