Hi,
I've got a 95 subaru outback, right now i'm trying to upgrade the bass with a cheap and easy solution. I was wondering what all you audio nuts though about throwing a BTA10200 model Bazooka bass amp in the trunk of my car with the stock audio system. Any help would be appreciated since i know practically nothing about this subject

with a factory system?? hmm... it's possible.. you won't get the good mids and highs of a full on powered system with aftermarket head unit.. bass tubes will give u nice low end sound, but do not generally have the "pounding" effect that ported boxes, etc.. tend to have..
I personally would get an aftermarket deck, new components, and an amp to power those components.. you'll have a good mixture of bass, mids and highs.. it certainly won't pound, but you'll have nice sound.. if it comes down to it, you can always add a sub or two..

I love when people tell you not to buy something that you've already bought.
I want a ride in this car. Subies are sweet.

ok.. so you have the deck.. and no aftermarket mids highs or other speakers?? if not.. your deck can only produce so much power.. if you have factory speakers, you will probably end up blowing them in the near future. If you have aftermarket speakers, you will probably blow them in the near future if you don't amplify them somehow and you turn the stereo up frequently, you will destroy your speakers... your head unit simply can not power aftermarket speakers, and factory speakers don't have that type of lifespan..
that being said, I think a bass tube would be fine with your set-up.. I would say that if you want a full range of sound, you should get aftermarket speakers and a seperate amp for those..

Amplified Bass tubes are a pretty good solution for adding cheap bass to your car but they aren't very powerful. I usually recommend bass tubes for people in smaller vehicles like a truck or car that seats two people with limited room for adding speakers. But, if your looking to make a quick and pretty cheap addition to your audio system then it should get the job done.
Right now in my Jeep I have stock door speakers and they haven't been a problem for me at all, I know Jeeps stock speakers are usually pretty good but if your speakers haven't been a problem for you yet then don't worry about it yet. The only problem with having stock speakers that I've had is that on some songs the bass will overpower the speakers and it'll be hard to hear the lyrics and such but with a quick bass adjustment that isn't really a problem as much as a nuisance.
If your speakers do become a problem or you end up blowing one or something you can go to Circuit City or Best Buy and get some cheap replacements, I know they used to carry these Jenson speakers for $20 a set, if you don't want to spend the money on replacing speakers and amplifing them.
Now my personal recommendation, would be to put to 10" subs in your car but it would probably cost you about the same price just to buy an amp to power two 10's as it will to buy that basstube. So seeing as it sounds that money is somewhat a concern with this then go for it and have fun. Once you get nice bass in your car it is amazing that you could go so long without it. I remember when I put my first stereo in my car and I was addicted from then on.

uhhhhhhhhhhhh what igotfrom that is this: if i have factory speakersthey will blow up if i have aftermarket speaker they will blow up unless hooked up to an amp or if i turn up the volume . I don't know what a head unit is so i can't translate that, so i guess a bazooka bass would work without blowing up my current speakers?

While on the topic of audio, does any one know of any good forums for "audiophiles?"
