Goalie B1 gains possession of the ball with one foot in the crease and one foot out, and--just as he gains possession, and while he still has one foot in the crease--A1 checks his crosse. The officials stop play immediately and refuse to award a free clear, instead giving the ball to team A outside the attack area. Why?

B1 is in the crease defended by team A.

Jeez, I guess this one was too easy.

What is the goalie doing in the wrong crease to begin with?

Well, he made a save, and the middle of the field was open, so he brought the ball up on a fast break, dodged the defenseman who came up to play him, faked a pass, shot, and hit the crossbar. Then he thought he had a chance at the loose ball, so he went for it. It happens all the time. :chuckle:

Actually, there was some great video of a goalie making a save and going coast to coast for a goal last year. I can't remember which team it was.

Two years ago I saw Greg Cratrano make a save while playing for the Philadelphia Barrage and run the length of the field to score a goal.

It's Laxref's way of fooling us. He does this stuff all the time. His intent is to get us to think out of the box so to speak.
