This is such crap. La Costa Canyon HS just beat Torrey pines, a cross city rival and is yet to be beaten. Torrey pines is ranked 5th in california and La costa Canyon(6-0) is ranked 7th and ther are teams above them with a 6-3 record.This is garbage and it just goes to show how inaccurate the BCS style ranking can be. LA Costa Canyon has proven to be the team to beat in their league and even the state but are not given any recognition for some reason. what do you guys think about this? Has this ever happened to anybody else




ps- the stupid thing is that the team that won the game has a better league record and is the #1 in league but still lower than the other team in state.

RYU you do have a point, this would be better placed in the U.S. West forum, so mostly west coasters will see it.

i hate laxpower... they weight to heavily on how big the point margin is... we're 6-2 in the league, but we're ranked below a team that is 5-3, and earlier we were 4-1, ranked behid teams that were 1-3... all because we dont beat our oponents by much, we always just sneak by, but we usually come out with the win nevertheless.

yah actually i had a point; i was just trying to show that the laxpower rankings are not very accurate and that bcs style rankings do not examine the teams but use an absurd statistical analysis to do the job.

Jesus, laxpower has a system to even everything out so that when you go over 10 goals its not worth anymore so beating the bloody hell out of your opponent is pointless. They weight it on how difficult the team you are playing is. For instance, if you are on the east and your a decent team. There's another team thats 6-0 and you're 3-3. You can still be ahead of them b/c the teams you played were better teams and the teams they played were really easy. It all depends on how challenging the team is to beat. They do put a little into the goals, but the difficulty is very important

Oh, of course i understand this but these two teams actually play in the same league and same city,and therefore play the same teams and to have the two best teams play with the losing of them coming out with a higher ranking is utterly ridiculous.

I am not sure what the problem is but i do know that the system is flawed and needs to be changed, it is not the end of the world but the system just needs to be updated with new ways to do it
