I've had this on my mind and need to share it.

So the topic is college education. In my IB History class, there another classmate/friend who's getting recruited to play D1 football, and as some of you know, I'm also getting recruited to play college lacrosse. Well, we both verbally commit on the same day to different colleges. In history, the subject was brought up of where we were going to college. He explains he's going to Univ San Diego, when they ask me, I told them I've verbally committed to the Naval Academy. The girl who sit in front of me, turns around and quickly asks,
"So you have no money?" she says.
I reply, "What? uh...no, I have money to go to college."
"So your parents won't pay for your college?"
"No, they would help pay for college."
"Then why do you want to get shipped away to an Academy?"
I roll my eyes.
"I just can't justify going around the world, killing innocent people for a free education," She exclaims.
At this point I'm pretty pissed off, so another classmate needs to explain to her that the Naval Academy is a very prestigious school for both academics and lacrosse.
She replies, "Oh, I just don't see the point in killing people"

She gets another set of rolled eyes from me.

So whatever, I just felt like I needed to share that.
Moral of the story, educate yourselves before looking an idiot.

You guys can point anything that's happened that had pissed you guys off.

Yeah, I have a deep hatred for basically all of my classmates in my english class this semester.

We were assigned a set of arguments on a topic and were required to present them last week. One of the groups had 'Marriage and Family in the New Millennium'. When we arrived in class on the day of their presentation, they handed us a notecard and asked us what we thought the "ideal family" was. I immediately knew they were playing on what the average American family is, and how people perceive this as the 'ideal'.
Most of my classmates said "Well.. a mom and a dad and 2.5 kids"
Alright, whatever, the national average is now 1.7 kids, but I let that slide.
I was the only person to say something different - "A happy family, regardless of size or orientation."

So we go on listening to their presentation, when the girl ahead of me says, "Well... I think that the ideal marriage is a man and a woman, but you know, gay marriage is like, an alternative."
That agitated me, a. because I don't believe that, and b. because her verbage was stupid. So I told her, "Alternative? It's not an alternative. It's not a choice. It's not like, oh, you know, Billy and I didn't work out, so I'm just going to go rock his sister's world now."
She just stared at me like a fish and then turned around.

Later in the class: (We moved onto homosexuals ability to adopt children)

Her: "I think that, well, ideally the children are raised with their natural parents. I just think that the children would be better off and healthier that way. But I think that if worse came to worse, homosexuals could raise them."
Me: "What? Are you kidding me? How about in the case of abusive or neglective natural parents? Oh. You're right. They're so much better. Or how about in the case of parents getting divorced because one decides to come out? Yeah.. that one parent shouldn't raise their children because they're gay. Man, those studies in the same section of the text which completely said the opposite of what you just said aren't worth the cost of the paper they were printed on. You're so right."

Consequently, my friend told me that I have a funny way of making people I don't like seem a lot more stupid than they really are. However, I tend to only dislike stupid people, so.

Yeah, it ticks me off too.

Next year i also plan on being a Midshipman (for another navy of course, and thats a rank, not the lax team) and I really hate it when people just cant accept my reasons for wanting to join.

There have been too many times that i've had to bite my lip to write here. Most recent one was today at school.

If they dont want to sign up for x amount of years, if they dont want to swear to defend their country, if the dont want to go to sea for months on end, if they dont want to risk being sent to war, if they dont want to wake up early in the morning, and if they cant see any advantage in it fine, dont join, but at least accept that i am willing and wanting to do those things.

I dont want to build houses for a living, i would hate it, but im not going to tell other people what to do with their lives.

and closed minded "killing people" nutters are the worst.

What job are you looking to do in the navy kryptic?

Our student member of the board of education, also a member of the full IB program (7IB Classes), some how is 100% convinced that White America invented crack and delibratley spread AIDS in Africa. Im not saying out govt did a good job with crack/aids epidemics, but she thinks it was a deliberate attempt to kill black people.

Kryptic don't worry about what she's got to say. She's probally going to John Doe's College of Basket Weaving. You sir are going to the United States Naval Academy, you have been set for life. You won't ever have to worry about needing a job, ever.

And btw how are your grades and SAT? Im considering the Academy.

one time a guy told me, in a very convincing manner as if he believed this 100%, that the u.s. gov't ordered the 9/11 attacks because we were getting over populated and they created and spread aids because of the same reason and if they were going to be lowering the population they wanted to take out gays and blacks. i just looked at him w/ a blank stare and didn't even say anything because it would be too easy to tear him apart

Does he wear an Aluminum foil hat because it reflects the signal from the government's satellites too? Or does he avoid the doctor because they are going to put a chip in his brain?

just for everyones information, Annapolis is THE HARDEST military academy to get inot, and get out of. I have two uncles who went through there, one played nosetackle for Navy football. They both said that if they could start over, they would not go to Navy. If you looking to go there, you have to be 100% with out a doubt commited to spending the next 10 years of your life belonging to the Uncle Sam , just as warning

Kryptic you should have said: "But I am joining to kill people..."

Actually considering you are still in High School that would have been a bad idea.

i hate it when people assume everyone from the middle east is associated with terrorism, i also hate it when lazy racist people blame all their problems on immigrants. I guess its easier to blame the guy who looks different from you instead of actually doing well in school and going to college.

anyway, back to the subject (congrats kryptic), there is this one girl at my school, she and one of my buds are totally obsessed with each other, but, they won't admit that the like each other, even though they spend virtually every moment they can together.
Now this girl hates lax, but her brother and her "stooge-on-a-leash-that used-to-be-cool-to-hang-with" both play. now she thinks that it is just the coolest thing
She is also will say THE dumbest things, on purpose, just to be funny. i really don't like her.
kryptic, just tell her you enjoy killing people, and she could be next.

WOW, congratulations. Did you pick the Naval Academy over other schools for lacrosse? I would also be interested in your grades/SAT scores if you don't mind and what are you planning on doing in the navy? Good luck next year(?) at school and on the team! I'll be at some games.

EDIT- Oh and about the girl, I just say forget her, she's too ignorant to think about, you are going to one of the most prestegious schools in the country that has one of the best lacrosse teams in the country! Plus, you get a free ride through college and a career afterwards

Did you have to get a rec. from your Senator and all that jazz to go to Navy? I heard thats what you have to do. You should be pretty proud of yourself, a) for getting into Navy and b) for getting in and playing lacrosse. Going to Navy is like going to Harvard....except a lot more manly. You do realize that once you get out of the Academy, and if you choose not to have a military career, you will be making some mondo dollars. Probably like 5 fold over what that crazy wench in your class will be making.

I think IB's are like AP's. They are classes that you take in high school and you can get college credit for them.

I hate people who think homosexual people aren't actualy human beings. We were talking about the ability to adopt for homosexuals in History today, and this one girl (girls seem to be ignorant more often than guys :D) kept saying "...but it's so disgusting" every five freakin' seconds.

alright here is some ignorance for ya...

the other day i was speaking to this kid from school about what we want to do next year, i said navy officer at the australian defence force academy, he then said of course i would get in the only qualification is that you can breathe and that everybody there are ret@rds.
ADFA is for the best, 5000 applicants a year but only 300 get offered a place, so where did this guy get his information?
he had just watched jarhead
dont get me wrong, i love the movie, but not being able to tell the difference between an Enlisted MARINE in a movie and officers at australia's elite military academy is stupid.

I am looking at the Canadian Royal Military College, you get a great education, people respect that you came from there, and it is just a good experience (in my books). Sorry, that was a little of topic but with ignorant people I have an experience. Iwas in a parking lot at the local Wal-Mart with a couple of chums when an angry lady and couple of guys came over. She (the manager) said she had recieved a complaint that we were pushing shopping carts at carts. After a long heated disscoussion that it was aroung 9pm and the store opens at 9am, it has probably been dark since 6pm and in that time there have probably been about a hundered teens walk through and us three accounted for 3% of the total. We then proceded to tell her that we came from the other side of the lot and we would of had to of walked an extra 100yrds and pushed a cart up a hill to do what she said. If this wasn't enough we had Wendy's hamburgers and sodas in hand and it would have been nearly impossible to do what she was saying we did. Clearly, we had won the argument so she stormed of saying that we weren't allowed in Wal-Mart anymore.
Sorry if this drifted off topic.

kryptic i admire you. i want to go to the academy too, but i don't wanna be in the conventional navy (yes, the seals) i also admire that you are good enough to be recruited for navy, and of course, your stick stringing skills, and ( i can't forget this part) your car pimping skills.

My thoughts exactly. They are saying how awesome life is going to be without school. Maybe for the first week. Then you realize you need money. To get money you need a god job. To get a good job you need a good education. :WTF:

Man, I can dig it. Half my friends have decided I'm stupid for doing academic courses and wanting to go to university. Their whole "ambition" is to do the minimal amount of work required, then go into a skilled trade and make more money than me. :bull:

Kinda sad.

Yea. Look at any political debate on TLF, most of them are just unwarranted facts.

Not to try and insult you, but like faceitoff said, this is a lacrosse forum. If you want truly intelligent conversations, go to a forum in which people are as obsessed with debate as TLF members are obsessed with lacrosse. I'm not saying that TLF members can't hold intelligent conversations, only that most, including me, are teenagers who don't study politics.
